    I play H/H of course. Well......as I played vanilla RTW to death during years I managed to get a deep feeling for the mechanics and yes... I never loose a battle if Iam not heavily outnumbered, ambushed and attacked from the back
    The reason why I never had a coward general is due to my game style I suppose.

    1. If I know I can not win a battle I press autoresolve and most likely the stack will be annihalated (heroic death). I do this if the AI catches small forces of mine on the march. bad luck
    2. I do not engage with my General until the end of the battle to get kills or when things are really really bad and Iam short of cavalry but never risk a rout by assigning the unit impossible tasks.
    3. Never loose a battle when I have the slightest chance of winning it. That means I have a full stack and even if you loose against 3 or 4 AI stacks you wont get the coward trait as you where totally outnumbered. BattleOdds < 3

    btw I have fixed the cowad problem in my expansion too. The alpha campaign looks good so far. Difficult and a pain in the ass, just how I wanted it to be ...best played on H/H ...Player has lots more casualties to sustain in each battle which makes the game a lot more realistic. If there are no issues and I can play enough hours to push the campaign forward I can release it in a week time maybe.

    Hello, I downloaded this mod few days ago and noticed this bug too. As a temporary fix I commented out the Coward1 trait triggers adding ; in front of each line. No cowards at all so far after 30 years of campaign so it seems to be working. These are the triggers i commented out:

    Trigger battle4
    Trigger battle4a
    Trigger battle7
    Trigger Withdraw_Before_Battle_Good_Odds

    If you don't know how to comment out this is an example with the Trigger battle4:

    Code:
    ;------------------------------------------
    ;Trigger battle4
    ;    WhenToTest PostBattle
    ;
    ;    Condition GeneralNumKillsInBattle = 0
    ;          and PercentageEnemyKilled > 10
    ;
    ;    Affects Coward1  1  Chance  25
    Hope it helps.

    If you look at some posts above yours, you can find ways in dealing with the coward trait in game

    Publius Scipio is his internal name. It's often praenomen-cognomen (1st name - 3rd name), but for the Fabii Maximii it would be, for example "Decimus Fabius" instead of "Decimus Maximus".
    You'd have to look it up in the files, I'm afraid.

    I thought "the coward" trait was doing more harm then good, so i just set the chance to aquire to 0...no cowards thus far

    I've tried Dani's fix and commenting. Got the first coward trait maybe on 20th turn. It's better than nothing.

    This is strange, after commenting out the triggers I never had a coward. I forgot to mention that depending on which campaign you are playing you have to comment out the triggers in the right folder. If you're playing rome 0 turns you have to comment out the ones in the "export_descr_character_traits.txt" file placed in "Play_Rome\data" folder. If you're playing rome 1 turn then you have to comment the one in "Play_Rome_One_Turn\data" folder. If you're playing any other faction you need to go into that faction's folder and make modifications in the file in that folder.

    Also I'm not sure if commenting out the triggers will prevent the bug in ongoing campaigns as I've started a new one after having modified the file.

    I did it for every individual faction.

    As did I.

    Then I don't know how this is possible as I still have to see a coward in my campaign. If you can somehow upload your export_descr_caharacter_traits.txt somewhere I could look into it.

    Sure, here's my (so far ineffective) "hotfix" that I put together so I could just drag and drop. It includes the export_descr_caharacter_traits.txt files of each individual campaign as well as the one in the base "data" folder, all modified with both yours and Dani's fixes.

    Edit: This fix didn't work, so I removed it. A working fix can be found further down in post #51.

    Your directory structure is wrong. It should be Play_FACTION\data\export_descr_characters_traits.txt, NOT Play_Faction\export_descr_characters_traits.txt as you have it now. Also, the top level data directory should be "data" not "Data"

    Thanks for sharing on how to reduce that trait. My character_traits file had the battle4 line of "Affects Coward1 1 Chance 66" 66!!! That is just way to high. So I made a drastic change . Thanks again!
