Because making a high profile TV-show doesn't leave you with a lot of time to film films.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

Strange, I thought this was going to be a thread asking why on earth he's getting a divorce from Jennifer Carpenter. This is surprising. I think he should screw films and pay full attention to his greatest role ever, and hurry up making Season 6.

(By the way, if they ever make a Lord of the Rings film set around the forging of the Rings, Michael C Hall has to play Sauron in disguise (Annatar))

I feel like most TV actors on a good show are better than most film actors. The Blockbuster Hollywood names can be assembled in a room you know? That's a scene. You occasionally get a blow up kind of actor or actress but they keep going back to the same circle 90% of the time for any major roles.

Besides, movies usually suck. Television is a better format. It's not as condensed. You can do a little plot in an hour but have bigger stories across a season. A two hour film can't do that. Movies are good for meaningless violence, highly censored sex scenes, and cool guys that don't look at explosions. How many decent movies a year are "Good" that aren't raunchy comedies, over the top action movies, or kids movies :shudder: ?

    Too true.

Speaking about films and MCH, when I saw him in Gamer, I sort of wanted him to win....

I disagree completely. I think a well written, well directed movie can be a far superior as a medium for telling a story because they're not forced to fill their story with useless fluff and drag it on well beyond it's point of decay. You can convey a plot with a clear ending and develop your characters within a 2-3 hour time frame, it's been done many times in the past. The problem is it's an incredibly difficult task and very few people have the talent to pull it off and because the movie business is the expensive monstrosity it is very few companies are willing to lay down the dough and actually think outside the box so instead we get the cookie cutter comedies, retarded action movies, and kiddy flicks. But very few T.V. series are able to fully maintain themselves from the first to the last episode.

Films always cut down and they are under the pressure to keep the audience entertained for a far more costly experience. The thread title refers me to Dexter which has flawlessly drawn out storylines over twelve episodes for five seasons. Furthermore, it has kept audiences in suspense over the same cliffhanger for four episodes. That is an achievement and also something that a film cannot do.

Also TV series can be any length, a problem though with America is that it sticks to 12/22 episode formats unlike Britain.

Michael Hall is godlike. The guy has such huge skills, it's incredible. There aren't many movie actors like him. I didn't know he was going to get a divorce from Jennifer Carpenter, I know they're supposed to be professional (and they are), but I hope that doesn't endanger their on-screen performance when acting together. I mean, playing brother and sister with your ex-wife must be hard.

Can't wait for season 6, this last season was awesome, I mean, I was never so into a series like with this 6th Dexter's season since the 1st and 2nd season of Dexter itself and Lost.

Apart from Carpenter (she's an incredible actress too) Desmond Harrington (Quinn on the show) is turning out to be a pretty good actor, something I never thought at first. Guy's done some awesome stuff on this last season.

Yes Quinns character is improving greatly, and the actor is well suited to the role.
