    Icon10 Terroristic groups in Europa.

What do you think, is terrorism much change in the last 70 years? we got in 1969 the rote armee fraktion in my opinion not terrorists but fighters against the old nazi state in Germany, Holland. You got the Red Brigade in Italy, fighters against the old facism, and the maffia state. and the IRA and i dont know mutch about them..
Today we got mostly muslim fundemantalistic groups that do terroristic things like londen, madrid, (zweden?)moskou.
Some leftwing groups are terroristic called as well, so as the group Anti-fastiche-aktion, where i am member of. What you think about this??

I think left wing activists groups lose themselves in a sense of moral superiority and forget that they're militant scumbags like their political opposites. The problem with far left wingers is that they genuinely think they're superior individuals, the problem with far right wingers is that they genuinely think they're a superior group of people. So it expresses itself in different forms (individualism vs collectivism) but it's inherently the same thing: a false sense of superiority.

I have approximate answers and possible beliefs, and different degrees of certainty about different things, but I’m not absolutely sure of anything, and many things I don’t know anything about. But I don’t have to know an answer. I don’t feel frightened by not knowing.

you've got it wrong. Left wing is collectivity, right wing is individualism. National socialism was left wing because of its collective policies.

No, left wing is progressivism and right wing is conservatism.

Oh actually, no, left wing is relativism and right wing is absolutism.

Or, eh... left wing is liberalism and right wing is, err... libertarianism? Or something.

The application of the terms left or right are archaic. In my specific case, I am talking about the way individual people who would classify themselves as far left wing consider themselves superior to right wingers by virtue of their ideas. Far right wingers, individual right wingers, associate themselves as being part of a superior group of people, usually ethnically motivated.

I understand that there's no way to be consistent in the application of the terms left and right. It's why they're stupid. They have failed at their purpose as words, namely to signify the truth. In their plurality they've become incapable of doing so at all.

I think you're wrong and should think about reading something, and then posting. Only a tiny minority of terrorist attacks in Europe every year are committed by Muslims:

Oh ferrets what would be the fun of people doing reading before posting? That would invalidate your entire existence on this forum. Don't throw in your own windows like that.

EDIT: That sounds more hostile than I intended actually. How about, if people actually start doing that your average amount of posts per day will drop by about 50%?

I don't know. I generally suspect that the majority of people would choose to spend their days swilling around in a mixture of their own effulgent and Malibu if social norms permitted. When it comes to ideas the vast majority of this forum is a terrified chimpanzee daring to peek out of a jungle canopy, desperately trying to fathom the sight of a once-in-50-years thunder storm that they can't possibly comprehend, falling back into a Darwinistic safety mechanism of fanatical fear, conspiracy theory and blind faith.

You'd think Google would help but as far as I can tell nobody here uses it.

In legal sense you would be correct, since those all count as terrorist attacks. I would tend to think that islamists have had larger and more "spectacular" attacks than others. But I contend that the reason behind these attacks is over looked by these statistics. A nationalist looks to create his own country, and leave the controlling nation alone. The left/right terrorists just try to change the government mostly. The Islamic terrorists are a lot more sinister and dangerous. Now im not saying the others arent terrorists but that the Islamic ones are a unique threat due to the horrifying goal they work toward.

A poopy analogy would be comparing a 100 grenade blast to one nuke and saying since there were more grenades, its a bigger threat.

severity and scope of goals is sorely missing from that link.

Of course not, how could you say that? I am a firm supporter of the Europan people. The terrorist attacks by the Jovanians are an atrocity, that should be rectified.

I think you should improve your English before posting a thread on an English-speaking forum. I mean, you can just about get the point of the thread, but the OP is pretty much incomprehensible.

Both male and female walruses have tusks and have been observed using these overgrown teeth to help pull themselves out of the water.

The mustached and long-tusked walrus is most often found near the Arctic Circle, lying on the ice with hundreds of companions. These marine mammals are extremely sociable, prone to loudly bellowing and snorting at one another, but are aggressive during mating season. With wrinkled brown and pink hides, walruses are distinguished by their long white tusks, grizzly whiskers, flat flipper, and bodies full of blubber.
Walruses use their iconic long tusks for a variety of reasons, each of which makes their lives in the Arctic a bit easier. They use them to haul their enormous bodies out of frigid waters, thus their "tooth-walking" label, and to break breathing holes into ice from below. Their tusks, which are found on both males and females, can extend to about three feet (one meter), and are, in fact, large canine teeth, which grow throughout their lives. Male walruses, or bulls, also employ their tusks aggressively to maintain territory and, during mating season, to protect their harems of females, or cows.
The walrus' other characteristic features are equally useful. As their favorite meals, particularly shellfish, are found near the dark ocean floor, walruses use their extremely sensitive whiskers, called mustacial vibrissae, as detection devices. Their blubbery bodies allow them to live comfortably in the Arctic region—walruses are capable of slowing their heartbeats in order to withstand the polar temperatures of the surrounding waters.
The two subspecies of walrus are divided geographically. Atlantic walruses inhabit coastal areas from northeastern Canada to Greenland, while Pacific walruses inhabit the northern seas off Russia and Alaska, migrating seasonally from their southern range in the Bering Sea—where they are found on the pack ice in winter—to the Chukchi Sea. Female Pacific walruses give birth to calves during the spring migration north.
Only Native Americans are currently allowed to hunt walruses, as the species' survival was threatened by past overhunting. Their tusks, oil, skin, and meat were so sought after in the 18th and 19th centuries that the walrus was hunted to extinction in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and around Sable Island, off the coast of Nova Scotia.

So I can just join a Spanish gaming forum and try posting a thread about terrorism in a continent I can't even name in the language correctly, can I? I honestly think he just wrote the OP using Google Translate, forgive me but I don't think he should be making threads in the political mudpit without a basic grasp of the English language!

And you are honestly very, very wrong. He is making some grammatical errors that are very common for Dutch people to make because they try to construct an English sentence in the same way that they construct a Dutch one and are using some English words as direct translations for what they think are their Dutch counterparts, even though there's nuances that prevent it from working like that. You wouldn't know, because you don't speak Dutch. So rather than discouraging someone from posting on a forum without mastering the used language, I would rather discourage you from posting linguistic commentary on a person whose native tongue you don't speak.

    If that's alright with you.

You're right to a certain point, but I still disagree with you.
I personally think non-English speakers should learn to speak English before posting in the Academy, but there isn't any reason why I should adress this in public in his own thread. I guess one can understand the thread, and that's what matters.
