Default The romans are too weak

I like this mod but I have one observation. I know in vanilla the romans were overpowered but I think in this mod it is the complete opposite. The hastati, principes and trairi arent superior to the gauls and carthage infantry (unlike reality), and combined with their smaller numbers (163 vs 241) they are actually at a disadvantage. And apart from the that the gauls have good cavalry and the carthaginians elephants. When a roman full stack meets a full stack of gauls or carthaginians the computer shows the odds are against them. While it exagerated I think the vanilla had the right idea about making the romans somewhat better.

That's why you have to employ the right tactics to beat the enemy. To kill cavalry, use Triarii. To kill elephants, use Velites. They'll fall like flies. Get your infantry to hold the line, then encircle them and use your cavalry to flank the opponent and make them rout, then it's lamb for the slaughter. It's not rare to have a 8-9:1 kill death ratio. Once you get things right, you'll find out that actually, the Romans are superior .

Nobody volunteering ? Ok, I'll go this time.....
Declares in a monotonous voice :

'SPQR is not intended to be balanced for every factions, but specifically designed to be challenging for a Roman player. Hence, if you seek some challenge, you shall play Romans, follow the House Rules, and then you will be in for an experience like no other RTS ever brought to you.

Before posting, please make sure your question hasn't been answered in the Readme (7. SPQR: Total War is not set for complete realism but is intended to enhance gameplay with some realism added) or in the FAQ, both found through this post (Lt: 'I chose to focus only on Rome and as you can tell the Engine that CA uses cannot be balanced for all factions. If you make them all balanced you will have no challenge for any faction').

Also be aware there is a search function available on this forum, and finally, this mod IS already in version 8.0, and running since God knows when, so you might guess that this kind of questions have already been asked and answered at least a thousands times...'

That said, hope you will enjoy the mod...

Like the others said, this mod is designed to play as Romans not as any other faction.

Romans go down when not played by player in this mod.
And if you say Too weak - well then you probably need some tactics. I can sweep 2 gallic stacks with single Roman legion and yet retain battle-capable numbers after the engagement.

    I lold at LT´s post.

It just shows how bad RTW AI is and how the player can do so much more. This also shows why SPQR battles are so great, I make the AI do what I want by understanding how it works and calculates.

I use to play SPQR aswell as it was one of my first mods. Facing ellies use javelins put of the autofire. For barbarians as the gauls press "D" use "defend/stand ground" tire them out and flank them.

Well to be honest, after the Marian reforms things get a little easier, and plus where would be the challenge is the other factions were not slightly superior?
The vanilla version is too easy. This makes you think how to fight and effective use of your units.
