Default GTX 460 768mb standard vs superclocked

First off, I know there are better cards out there, but this one is fine for me at the moment, especially considering I can simply get another and SLI down the road. Furthermore, if I wait for a 1mb to go on sale and get that, the question still stands: superclocked vs standard.

There are two versions by EVGA for sale on newegg.com; one is a standard version, and one is a superclocked version. The standard one has shipping costs, the superclocked version does not; so at the moment, they are almost perfectly equal in price, and both have rebates.

What are the benefits of getting the superclocked version? Can't I just overclock the standard version to the same (or near the same) levels as the superclocked version after I buy it? If so, I am a bit confused by the existence of the superclocked version.

    Thanks for any help.

I suppose the super clocked version is there for people that don't want to overclock themselves incase somethng goes wrong. Or maybe warranty becomes void if you overclock (Just a guess no research done) but since they overclocked it the warranty is fine. There are people that don't know anything about computers and don't want to know but want one thats as powerful as it can be.

I had a pair of EVGA 768mb Superclocked GTX460's before I solf them for a GTX580 due to issues with hitching. They were my first cards to ever hitch (1 second pauses and then sudden restart in certain games) and they were also my first factory overclocked cards. I'd buy stock and overclock them yourself with EVGA's overclocking tool. Likely you will find the performance of the GTX460's to be plenty at stock, overclocking doesn't really give you a whole lot more performance anyway (usually 2-6 FPS more).

Get the cheapest one. They are really the same card. Superclocked is like what, 2 minutes of tweaking in Afterburner or EVGA's OC program.

The chips are tested at the factory, and binned (as in, put in a bin) based on their test results. Higher binned chips, or better binned chips, being the ones that are more tolerant of voltages or more stable are used for the factory overclocked cards.

They say that, but the time and cost involved in selecting highly binned chips is much more than the extra price for an SC edition. If they did that, EVGA would be making a massive loss on the SC ranges.

They probably do that for their FTW edition cards though. Maybe the SSC cards too, idk.
