    Default Buy now or wait?

I know that I should wait and I want to (I want everything to turn up at once in an orgasm of tech goodness) but I'm wondering if it's really a good idea because the site I'm getting the components from has offers every week. For example Windows 7 and the disc drive each have £5's off at the moment they may not when it comes to buying them in Feb so my PC will cost £10 more and other parts may also be cheaper, I could save between £50 - £100 if the right offers come up.

I don't know what happens after Christmas with computer stuff, if there are January sales etc.

I also don't know what new things I dew to be released soon, I know there are a few new graphics cards (Hoping they will push down the price of the 580, so that I can be tempted by it, but I doubt it), other than that I don't know.

I just sold my GTX580 for two GTX570's in SLI. If I were you I'd just get a GTX570 (along with the rest of your system), they have the same performance as a 480 so for the price they are the best deal. Of course I am referring to American prices, your may be different.

Wait until the 6970/6950 come out in the next couple days, then buy what you need. The release of those should hopefully see some price wars starting.

That's on the highest of high end and I should doubt a price drop would be seen for awhile on Nvidia's flagship card. I still vote buy now, with the prices on the other components the way they are.

I agree just wait for AMD releases, while you wait, you could read the best trilogy of four books, the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy

I still believe they have the radio airings on LP available somewhere...

Not too worried about the graphics card at the moment, there are no offers on that right now so I'm happy to wait till Feb for that unless something amazing comes up, its mostly the other parts except the mother board, CPU, CPU cooler and RAM which are bundled, a big expense and something I want to wait and see with.

It's more the OS, DVD drive, hard drive, PSU, USB wifi adapter and case those are the things I'm thinking of buying as the offers come up.

Only thing is, if you buy those without being able to test them and a part was DOA you will end up having to RMA with the manufacturer rather than the company you ordered from, which is always more of a pain.

Have to agree here. It's best to have a basic box in place to at least test any new components you buy. Also remember that deals on secondary hardware and OS's are relatively common - good bundled deals for MoBos, CPUs and RAM are less frequent. The time to strike when building a system is when you find a good deal for the core components - the rest will follow. Good luck!

    Thanks guys!

Something else has come up, I heard today that the VAT is going up in Jan, I just did the maths and the price of the PC will go up £30 or so, which doesn't suck as much as I was expecting when I first heard that it was going up but its still money thats going down the loo (Government).
