If I knew the name of the mod I might be able to help further.

If i installed MOS and I played it then does that mean that MOS will run but not Third age?

It does. but MOS is just an upgraded Third Age. You could also install Third Age twice. give the two different names, put MOS into 1, them you can play either whenever you want

If you are having difficulties with this method, then I can recommend using this alternative (kingdoms mods only): Steam compatible modStarter

When it loads it shows the opening "Westeros: Total War" screen for a fews seconds and then it says that there has been an "unspecified error" and that the game must close. When I select the file from the mods section as shown in step 3 it says that there are spaces in the name of the file which will cause the game to crash, but I've tried renaming the file and it won't allow me to do so. Any help?

This means that the game has started correctly but there is most likely a problem with the installation of the mod, not with the launcher. See the post above for an alternate launcher if you continue having problems.

It is not a file but a folder that you are supposed to select in step 3. The folder could be write protected and you need to right click it, and then in 'properties' deselect the 'read-only' attribute, click 'apply' and then 'ok'

I tried this to the step.....I extracted the file for the mod, "Last Kingdom" into the mod folder.....Only, it didnt give me a config file when I entered the mod. Then I ran kingdoms with the mod, and I IMMEDiately got an error message. It didnt say anything, just an error message that shut the game down after I closed it. What did I do wrong?

    1. You have to install the 'Last Kingdoms' mod, not sure what you mean with extracting otherwise.
    2. Check the patch to the 'Last Kingdoms' mod - it should be ...\Medieval 2 Total War\mods\Last_kingdoms - you will find a CFG file in that directory if you did the installation correctly
    2. Repeat the instructions in the first post once you have correctly installed 'Last Kingdoms'

blank error message could be a wrong install of TATW. What is your path to the TATW data folder?

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3

before i had copied and pasted the file into the other mod folder, and (obviously) i used the launcher to play the game.

I am not sure what caused your problem if you have followed the instructions correctly, the path is correct.
You can delete your setting for Third Age:
    Removing an entry:
Simply open the application, high light the entry and then click 'File\Delete Mod Settings' - this will only remove the installation from the launcher, you will have to remove the actual mod installation via the mod's uninstaller or do it manually in your browser.
And then try once more: make sure to choose 'kingdoms' in step 2 and step 4, and see that the path in step 4 is mods\Third_Age_3

If all fails then you can still try this method: Steam compatible modStarter

You are posting in a thread dedicated to the use of an application. The quote is from the opening post discussing this application. The application's name is "Kingdoms Launcher App" which is used to make mods playable in Steam.
The entry - this is your mod's entry in the application, see picture in step 5

deleting the mod settings only just removed the game from the list.
