I am sure Squid will know the ins and outs of this - I just compiled it into a manual.

I'm having a small problem with this. I when I try to run retrofit mod (with GUAM), it just loads vanilla grand campaign. I've put it in the launcher app, but I get an unhandled exception error. I run it from Kingdoms on steam. I can launch normal Kingdoms campaigns.

Just ran as admin and everything looks fine, but the config box is greyed out and I can't type in the .cfg file.

    Is this okay?

EDIT: NVM yo I'm all good, just had to browse to the mod file and I'm done!

So I managed to start the game with the medieval 2 kingdoms launcher and the following fraction can be chosen: Ordona Province, Lanaryu Province, Stalfos, Moblins and the holy roman empire which is strange. I also can only see the medieval2 map. When I start the game with one fraction, the game takes me back to the main menu and I can only play the quick battle mode
    Does anyone can help me?

    Hey there,
I just downloaded the Rage of the dark gods mod, and whenever i try to start it (over the desktop shortcut), it says: could not find "medieval2.exe, make sure you entered the name correctly". The shortcut is directed at the batch file. I don't know what to try anymore. I tried to rename it to teutonic and rename teutonic to teutonic1 to try starting it over steam, but that don't work either. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate that!

What's the exception? If you could take a screenshot and post it that would be ideal.

So i'm having an interesting problem. Whenever I launch the game after having used this tool, it creates multiple copies of the kingdoms campaigns from the Launcher>Play menu. Any ideas what's that about?

If there aren't multiple copies of the kingdoms campaigns when you run the tool then there's a problem with steam or your OS.

This is exactly what I need but I cant get it to work.

I copied and changed the name of the British isles folder, inserted the files from the heraldry mod, then ran the Kingdoms Launcher App.

I went to file/new mod but then there were only: Mod Name, Config File (without option to browse), Path (with option to browse) and Game exe. The config file part is grey and I cant even write in it.

    Where have i gone wrong?
Also, what is the config file anyway?

    Thanks

edit: my kingdoms launcher also came up with an unhandled exception, im not sure how to attach a picture to this so i will tell you what the alert says:

Do you have full admin rights to that folder?

    Code:
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Mods\Official' is denied.
    says you don't.

Just used the 'Run as administrator' and that seemed to work, thanks irishron.

For the Heraldry mod, the map.rwm file needs to be deleted. When i do this then run the game, map.rwm seems to replace itself?! Is this steams fault and is there any way to stop it? I tried renaming it, still doesnt do the job.

Edit: Also, even after running as the administrator I could not write anything in the config file section. Does that make a difference?

The map.rwm will always generate a new one. It contains the map info and everything relevant to it including the Heraldry mod.

Maybe http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=397636 will help you with more things.

Disabling the UAC works wonders for modding Total War games, too.

When I click to delete settings, they come back as soon as I reopen the program, and some have doubled over somehow, is there any way to fix this??

When I try to load the game everything will work fine and I will even see the load screen for just a split second and then the game will crash. I get an error that says the game encountered an unspecified error and has to close. I am using steam if that makes a difference. Also I had a heck of a time finding the right path because for some reason my mods folder was not showing up in my normal browser.

Also now I can't even load up the regular game. I get an error box that doesn't show any text.
