"Allow units to be controlled by AI" doesnt work?

In fights where you have two separate armies participating in the battle, it gives you the option of letting one army be controlled by the AI. I uncheck this box because I DONT want the AI controlling the 2nd army, but when the battle starts the AI is controlling the army anyway.

I havent played vanilla RTW in forever, this might be an issue I have with vanilla too for all I know.

It is an issue with vanilla which, IIRC, only happens if you click on one of the enemy leaders and take a look at his army. You can also avoid the problem by checking and un-checking the AI box a couple of times, and then setting it to what you want.
