    Default This is crap

What is this crap they're teaching us in school. When we're bullied they tell us not to fight back, not to stand up for ourselves. They just tell us to 'tell the teacher'. Well, you can't 'tell the teacher' in real life. We need to stop this useless crap and start teaching children to stand up and fight against those who try to hurt them physically or mentally. That's the only way to make it stop. I know from experiance, the only way to fend off a bully is to make him respect you. Make him know that you won't just take this crap. Make him fear you even. In the words of Caligula: 'Let them hate us as long as they fear us'. Why do they teach children to be wimps and not stand up for themselves? These people are breeding a generation of weaklings. Without strong defenses, how can we preserve our freedom? How can we preserve our unity as a nation when a few strong, violent people can walk over our entire population because they've been taught not to fight? If they teach the fighting spirit out of everyone, we'll be turned into the slaves of warlords and tyrants before we can do anything. If they teach everyone to just 'tell the teacher', how will these people be able to defend themselves in real life when there's no teacher to tell. This is the wrong thing to teach children. I agree, violence isn't always the answer but people need to understand that sometimes, you must resort to violence to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your freedom.

I pretty much agree, but what happened, were you bullied and reprimanded for defending yourself? I agree that its crap, I really disagree with the "no tolerance" policies that so many schools have adopted recently. In some schools participating in a fight (even being on the losing end of one) comes with a mandatory 2 or 3 day suspension. Catching a student with pot in school comes with a mandatory phone call to the police and 1 week suspension...etc...its really stupid.

Weren't you the guy that once made a thread asking for advice because you were bullyied. Don't remember the entire story but you were betrayed right. Someone pretended to be your friend and then stabbed you in the back(figure of speech). Is that the reason you made this thread... How are you doing... has the bullying stopped?

Anyway I think what you are saying is only taught in Christian schools which in my country are few of. If you want to have a normal/ok life you got to fight back. It's a sad thing but if you don't you'll be picked on for sure because they know you won't do anything back. They should teach people to stand up for themselves but also only to fight defending and never attacking.

Well, it's slowed but no completly stopped. I made a couple of real friends, some other guys who shared common interests(military history, fantasy novels, english literature, classical music, etc). A few months ago, my betrayers decided to beat some sense into me after I cheeked off their leader. They had me cornered by a wall, when my pals came over. We had a big brawl, I got a bloody nose, and a black eye. I gave out four black eyes, five bloody noses and a fat lip. I got 3 weeks detention for defending myself against people who were putting my physical well being in danger. Because 'violence is not acceptable' That is  I tell you. Bulls*t

I do agree that in your situation, Eric, it was unfair. But you must be able to have some evidence to back it up. If you told them that you did not want to fight, and they made an aggressive action, and someone is able to verify this, then the kids will be removed from that school and get a criminal record. I believe that making the punishment more serious will stop thugs from beating people up.

I don't know you but am proud of what you have done. As sad as it may be that's the way the cookie crumbles. The good suffer under the bad. I personally would **** on that 3 weeks detention and walk in that school proud and with my chin up. What you have done is the right thing. I'll bet there were a few teachers there that agree with your actions but they have to follow the stupid rules and they say violence is not the answer. Well newsflash violence is the answer. It is in this world and if you don't see it or agree with it you will become a victim (or already have become).

At my school only the original aggressor is punished, in most cases.

Typically, in my school, it is ok to defend oneself but not make a serious attempt to inflict lasting harm on someone...
Just gotta be careful. Some dopes in my school carry knives around.

Is violence the answer to any conflict, no matter how big or how small? Is it? The power of voice, patience, and ignoring the events around you can do wonders to the general populace. If people would learn to become in tune with the world around them, to ignore the bad things in life, then the "bullies" would never gain prominence. Instead, people attempt to solve it through violence. Nothing is ever solved by violence.

    How old are you?

I agree with you now, your attitude towards the subject works for me, very much so. If it was ten years ago, however it just would not work. Children do not respond to reason, they pick on people they view to be weaker than them, and so a target. The only way to beat the school bully is sometimes to "beat" them.

I was bullied pretty badly at one stage, and I was the bully at another in my school years it is unfortunatley natural, with children it seems to be the law of the jungle. How we handle these situations has a direct impact on how we develop, it is one of the few stages where we can be agressive without it escalating to extreme levels (well these days maybe that only applies up until your about 12/13 years old).

Actually I wasnt. I got bullied rarely, very little. Once I learned the correct attitude, accepted certain instances on life, things got better. Only upon learning these issues in life, looking at yourself, rethinking what you have always done, will you prevail.

I only wish to steer people away from the issues of violence, as they're is never a need for it. Violence achieves nothing.

    Third reich anybody?

The only way in wich your oh so great way of doing things would work is if every single human being believed it, and im willing to bet that 99.999999% of kids at school dont care about any of that when theres a somebody to laugh at or a fight to watch.

As a matter of fact one of my former friends tried the whole "lets talk" thing when he was getting bullied, about 20 minutes later he was lying in a heap covered in his blood and the spit of the guy who he wanted to "talk" with.

Was actualy pretty funny hearing somebody scream "im not a fighting man" when they were getting pummelled, former friend or not.

So no matter what some people would like to think, violence does indeed solve a lot of things.

What is this crap they're teaching us in school. When we're bullied they tell us not to fight back, not to stand up for ourselves. They just tell us to 'tell the teacher'.
You don't think it's understandable? what will parents say when they hear the local school is encouraging violence.

I know I always try to stay out of violence when I'm out in the big town etc. The adrenalin rush I get before a fight is crazy, it's a mixture of anxiety and anger which makes me a bit confused... it takes your mind off pain though.

comes with a mandatory 2 or 3 day suspension

I agree. And, the 'tell the teacher' policy only leads to more bullying raining down on the victim. The bullies see the victim as a wuss if the tell the teacher. I understand that scools just want to keep violence on the severe downside and if someone is ever victim to bullying they should shrug it off for the first times. Only under repeated bullying should anyone resort to violence.

And on to you're more prominent point, This is all too true. In the real world be it the workplace, international politics or anything in between, there is no "teacher" to tell. Violence should however not be the initial reaction. People should always let it slide for a few then resort to violence if they won't stop.

Sure there is "tell the teacher in real life" it is called "call the cops"

P.S. it is also very understandable - their job is a whole lot easier if they don't have to sort out who started the fight. Also their jobs are easier if less people got hurt.
