Add-On: More Playable Factions

Hi everyone

As you may know the startpos in update 4.5 included only the 4 original playable factions, unlike the previous updates where several startpos' were included to make all factions playable. In the abscence of Mitch, I have decided to practice my meagre .esf and .bat skills to add more playable factions. This is mainly because I want to play as Belgium .

I've stickied it as I've thought this to be important to the mod, but come tommorow I will discuss further with the team. It is, as of yet, merely my personal gift.

Installation

Set-Up:
1. Save the file in your downloads folder.
2. Extract the zip file (still into your downloads folder)
3. Within the exctracted folder, run "Startpos Setup"
4. Go to your data folder, and run the batch file listing the faction you'd like to use
5. Play the game

Manual Install:
1. Save the file in your downloads folder.
2. Extract the zip file
3. Copy ww1_main to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\napoleon total war\data\campaigns
4. Replace or Merge as necesary
5. Move the 3 batch files listing factions in the downloaded folder to a convenient location
6. Run the batch file listing the faction you'd like to use
7. Play the game

If the Batch Files do not work:
Manually copy the startpos from the folders within data/campaigns/ww1_main to replace the existant one. No need to make a backup of the original, as it is included in the "Primary Majors" Folder. Batch files will most likely not work correctly for windows 7 users, but I will attempt to correct this

Folder Contents:
Primary Majors - Austria, Germany, Russia, Britain
Secondary Majors - France, Italy, Ottomans, Spain
Minors - Belgium, Sweden, Greece, Portugal
Extra Minors - Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Holland

Additional Playable factions:

Note: If you want to play as a faction not only the list, just tell me and I'll see what I can do.

There is no installer this time, so follow the readme or the manual install instructions this time.

I would love to see switzerland as playable faction again! They are the most baddass country!

Well I'm not actually making factions, Serbia will be made by Mitch in startpos v2 (which is coming along nicely btw)

I installed it correctly. Where do you mean as a 'convient location' for the .bat files? In our WW1_main folder, on the desktop or....?

When I tried to play as...say ottomans, it brought up a screen for 1 second then went away...

Wherever you want, it runs fine anywhere. I put it in my data folder.

And yes, thats what its supposed to do. Run it and the startpos should be replaced (if you have vista anyways, i dont know about w7 or xp)

I got W7. When I run the bat, it pops up and then I start the game regularly and it still shows the original 4 playable factions..

same problem for me. I don't think it works with W7. I'll talk to sama about it and figure it out soon.

I'm going to add that to main thread as well.

If someone sends me the w7 file structures I might be able to fix the .bats to work with w7. What I need is the location of the default download folder and the NTW data folder

I've ran into a issue with greece where it wont let me declare war on the Ottman Empire, it could be other factions also but greece is the only one I've tried so far, btw I manually installed it on windows 7 and unless the greece thing only happens there everything else is fine

Thats because the startpos are not finished yet.

Bug's to do with the Startpos will all be erradicated in Version 2 of my Startpos. That should be coming out sometime in December as my Christmas gift (hopefuly before Xmas).
