    Default Graphics Card update

Okay, so next year Dungeon Siege 3 and The Witcher 2 are coming out and quite frankly, my 3 year old 9500GT isn't going to cut it.

I don't have the money to upgrade my whole rig and since my CPU and RAM are pretty decent they can wait a little bit longer. I just want to upgrade my graphics card for now and I was looking at the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460. Has anyone got this card? Is it a good choice of card to last me another two or so years?

EDIT: Or there's these two as well:

Any reason you only want a GTX 460?

Yes, I don't want ATi. I had one ATi video card and the drivers drove me mad. I'm sticking to nVidia.

If we're talking about Witcher 2 and Dungeon Siege 3, GTX 460 should be able to cope fine.

In any case, get this one.

Quieter, cooler, overclocks better and it's cheaper. What's not to like?

I've never had an MSi card before but heck, the specs seem alright. I've found their motherboards awesome though.

It's sad to think that I bought my 9500GT when it was the best nVidia had at the time.

Shame you don't want an AMD/ATi card(got to start getting used to start AMD instead of ATi sooner or later. Does that mean there is no red side any more just green and green ). Anyway back on topic I would have recommended a ATi card but since you want nVidia

I'll be getting an AMD CPU but I just think ATi graphics drivers are pathetic so I'm sticking to the green team for GPUs.

Oh I answered my question googling the new 6000 series there is still a red team .

When was the last time you had an ATi? I have had nothing wrong with the ATi drivers with my HD 5870, having steam install it to is helpful don't know if you can do that with nVidia now.

Guys, stop grilling the man on why he wants some green in his pc

And Fozzie, the only thing that the 3rd party manufacturer has control over is the cooler and heatsink, and then warranty price etc. You're basically getting the same 460 GTX as you would if it were say XfX, except that they have a double warranty (and cost $30 more lol)

    I second mrcrusty's suggestion

His going to get a AMD cpu so he will have green in his pc. Some 3rd party manufacturers can do more.

The last one I had was a 4650.

Yeah I usually choose my third party brand on personal preference, which is usually Gigabyte or EVGA.

I WANT IT ALL GREEN. Except it is impossible to find a cool green case.

    Very classy looking and tasteful.

You could also just paint your current case green.

EVGA isn't a good brand here. They rock for Americans sure, but what does EVGA have for Aussies?

No step up, no lifetime warranty, non reference designs sometimes worse than the reference and often more expensive than budget brands for reference cards.

Nothing to like about EVGA in Australia. Overpriced and overhyped.

My favourite brand all around is Asus. Solid everything. You know you're getting a good product. Expensive yes, but good non reference designs and even their reference designs usually have a nice touch. Like their 6870 is a reference design, but they put an aluminum cover on it so it dissipates heat a little better.

MSI is second favourite, their Twin Frozr coolers just reek of style imo.

In terms of price/performance, Powercolor is good too. They aren't known for having good warranty services and sometimes they gimp features like voltage control, but their PCS+ range is often cheaper, faster, cooler and quieter than the reference counterpart. Perfect brand for the budget guy wanting a solid product out of the box.

Same with HIS. The HIS IceQ 4850 card I bought some years back was the best all round card I ever bought (at the time of purchase).

Also Gigabyte, they are a pretty good brand overall too.

But anyways, yeah the MSI GTX 460 Cyclone is a good card. Cheaper than the others but better in many ways.

I think I'm in love. A bit out of my price range though.

And painting my case wouldn't work since it has blue LEDs and you can't paint those

Go with crusty and you can always SLI it when you have the cash for it and hopefully by then prices will also drop.
MSI is new to the other guys but is very reliable their MOBOs are pretty solid too.
