    Default Computer Advice

Hello, I was wondering if one of you could give me some advice.

I am probably going to get a new computer soon, and was wondering if this computer would be sufficient to play Shogun 2: Total War. I don't plan on playing the game at maxed settings, I just want to be able to play it without constant lag, as the case is with my current set up.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

It's not all that bad I suppose, fairly decent CPU, 4Gb of ram and you get a full version of Windows 7 with the disc which is unusual but you would also need to buy a new video such as the HD6850 card to replace the hamster on wheel that is the HD5450 to play S2TW at decent settings.

    Thanks.

Is it a bag graphics card overall, or do I just need one with more megabytes of video memory?

It's just a lower end graphics card. It'll do the job but you'd be better off getting something with a bit more beef to it. It'll last you longer that way.

It's a good graphics card if you want to play high def movies, but you can't game with it. Maybe at 800x600 but it's not designed for gaming, it's designed for movie watching.

I lol when they say gamer edition or w/e, it's just a blatant rip. Well, most of the time it is. The most "gamer" component of that computer was probably Windows.

I would highly suggest building one yourself, but if you can't/don't want to, then this is probably your best option on Amazon.

Yeah 800$ is a little out of budget for me.

But do you think that this card would be a suitable replacement for the on board one?

I'm not sure what the performance difference is between a GT220 and a HD5450 but my guess is not a lot. The GT220 is based on old mid-low end tech whereas the Hd5450 is based on low end new tech so might be like for like.

If I were you I would push for something like this, you would have no complaints. However if that's a bit pricey and you don't have a large resolution monitor (i.e your using 1280x1024 or 1440x900 etc) you should look at the Radeon HD5750 or Nvidia GTX450.

Okay, so if I get the money, it is more worth it to spend a little more to get something like this.
