I'm getting windows 7 for my new pc and there is a choice between full, only 32 bit and only 64 bit. The only 64 bit version is cheaper than the full version by just under £40. Is there any point in getting the full version so that I have 32 bit as well or not?

I mean what kind of problems will I come across if I get the 64 bit version and not the full?

What do they mean by "full"? If you can get at least 64bit Home Premium, you're good for Shogun II.

Oh sorry I think full means 32 bit and 64 bit. But you can get a cheaper version which is either 32 or 64 bit.

Are they supplying the discs or just one those HP Computer Restore partition jobs? Either way, 64bit will be better in the long run.

They're the same thing mate. It's just the OEM version doesn't come with a fancy box and is only for people building a new pc. And even if you do get 32-bit and decide to go to 64 later, you can just order some 64-bit discs for free from Microsoft, and vice versa.

Then it comes with both discs. If you can swing it, get the zprofessional version.

With the Professional edition, you can run programs in "XP compatibility mode", and handy feature for some older but good games and utilities.

You like me Fenon are a gamer the full and version etc don't matter.
If you have more than 3.5GB of RAM then get x64 OS otherwise there is no need.

But in any case get a x64 anyways as the x86 programs are still compatible with it.

Yeah getting 6gb of RAM. Ok I'll just get the 64 bit version.

Is Windows 7 Professional really worth spending £35 extra on?

The single 64 bit and 32 bit OEM discs are for system builders and once you activate the given key which you are required to do within 30 days of install, then the license becomes tied to your motherboard. Sometimes if you change out your motherboard calling Microsoft and talking nice will get you a new key with which you may install windows again, but they won't always let you do that.

The "full" edition is the retail version of windows that includes both 32 and 64 bit install discs. With the retail copy of windows you can move your license to any 1 computer at any given time. There are no restrictions other than that you can only have it on one system at a time.

Ok I could do with saving the money and I'm not sure I would use the XP thing. Thanks for the help.
