Default Details and final thread on SENATE ELECTIONS !

Top o the mornin to ye all

LT. Here are the details of why I have SPQR running with a 4tpy script and senate elections
The Reason there are no senate elections is because of the ‘Time Warp’ the jump from 270BC to 245BC
Here is an abridged version of my experiments…

Files: Marcus Camillus’ 4tpy script for RTR 6.2
Replaced the RTR descr_strat.txt with SPQR 5.0 version

    Test I
    1. Changed start date in the descr_strat.txt from 270BC to 280BC
    2. Rewrote the descr_script.txt matching the dates and turn numbers with the descr_strat.txt file

    descr_strat.txt
    start_date -280 summer
    end_date 1 summer

    descr_script.txt

    console_command date -280

    while I_TurnNumber = 0
    end_while

    console_command date -280
    console_command season summer

    (ect)

    3. Ran game
    4. Implemented 4tpy script
Result : On turn 12 (The fourth game year) SENATE ELECTIONS take place.

    Test II
    1. Changed start date in the descr_strat.txt from 270BC to 245BC
    2. Rewrote the descr_script.txt matching the dates and turn numbers with the descr_strat.txt file

    descr_strat.txt
    start_date -245 summer
    end_date 220 summer

    descr_script.txt

    console_command date -245

    while I_TurnNumber = 0
    end_while

    console_command date -245
    console_command season summer

    (ect)

    3. Ran game
    4. Implemented 4tpy script
Result : On turn 12 (The fourth game year) SENATE ELECTIONS take place.

    Test III
    1. DID NOT Change start date in the descr_strat.txt
    2. Used the original descr_script.txt file from SPQR 4.6

    descr_strat.txt
    start_date -270 summer
    end_date 220 summer

    descr_script.txt

    suspend_during_battle on
    console_command date -245
    console_command season summer
    while I_TurnNumber = 0
    end_while

    console_command date -245
    console_command season summer
    while I_TurnNumber = 1
    end_while

    (ect)

    3. Ran game
    4. Implemented 4tpy script
Result : On turn 12 (The fourth game year) and subsequent turns the SENATE ELECTIONS FAILED to take place.

Conclusions: The start date in the descr_strat.txt in the campaign folder should match the Start date in the descr_script.txt in the Script folder or the Senate elections will remain stagnant. The 35 year jump in SPQR 4.6 caused when the 4tpy script is implemented leaves the Senate members in a ‘Stasis’ and the Senate positions remain stagnant.

I am sorry you don’t believe my findings. I will not bother you again. Oh ! And I was not wrong, the campaign dates in the RTR 6.2 4tpy mod are indeed 280BC - 1AD I will not tell people how to download the appropriate files or how to make the changes as this is your page and your mod but now you have the facts feel free to implement them or not.

Thanks for the info, this helps alot. I look into this now. Originally I didnt even know the elections didnt happen, players that used the script said that happed. Interesting on matching dates, so my theory was correct. I knew there had to be a logical reason because the script is the same from Mydraal. he inverted the generator.

It wasnt that I didnt believe you, its that I need conclusive proof. Anyway, thank you for your findings. I WILL see about what to do with them. Also please make sure to use the same thread, it keeps my forum clean. :-)

Oh and to protect my Honor, here is the end of the script your using if you notice the end dates are 180AD

    console_command date 179
    console_command season summer

    while I_TurnNumber = 1833
    end_while

    console_command date 179
    console_command season summer

    while I_TurnNumber = 1834
    end_while

    console_command date 179
    console_command season winter

    while I_TurnNumber = 1835
    end_while

    console_command date 180
    console_command season summer

    while I_TurnNumber = 1836
    end_while

    ******* console_command date 180*******
    console_command season summer

    while I_TurnNumber = 1837
    end_while

    console_command date 180
    console_command season summer

    while I_TurnNumber = 1838
    end_while

    console_command date 180
    console_command season winter

Well thanks to your help the script is now in SPQR 6.0 along with the garrsion script :-) If you didnt figure out why it didnt work on the elections, I wouldnt have added it. Like you said its related to the dates matching in the strat file.

SPQR 6.0 is going to be a killer. ;-)
