I like stainless steel, but man oh man alot of work went into the third age and it seems like a totally different game all together so i would have to say in a race neck to neck with the third age winning by a photo finish.

    I don't like either.

SS: too long turn times, bad map for eastern europe, ahistorical pikes
3rd age: I am not interested in Lord of the Rings

The mods I have installed for a long time and played multiple games with:
    - Broken Crescent
    - Magyar mod
    - For King and country
    edit: - Call of Warhammer!

I havent played third age yet
But as far as SS is concerned, well i cant say that i like it nor that i dont like it. Most of the stuff is fine in SS but the time gap between turns is really annoying, something that u dont see in the normal game. So even though all the others are right, the enormous time gap would make players to go to the extent of uninstalling the mod. Its like by the time you complete 10 turns in SS you would be well over 20 in the normal game.

Ill play the third age later and then talk about that.

*Sigh* I take it that you created this thread in either or both of these mods' sections as well and they got surprisingly deleted?

surpirsingly no, i thought if i created it in third age, i would have LOTR haters saying post in in the ss fourm, and vice versa for the ss haters.
so i posted it in med 2 gen discuss

    Btw why this 2?

Why not Call of Warhammer or Broken Crescent? I mean I can't see the point in comparing a fantasy mod with a normal mod...

they are the most popular, and are debated over more than the other mods

Third age just because of SS long turn times.

Dave Scarfaces Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod is my favourite.
Its not that different to the vanilla MTW2 but the modifications in it are brilliant.
Basically all the cool factions that are in the Kingdoms expansions and more citys and castles in areas like the Baltic, Middle East, Britain and Ireland etc so it makes it that bit more complicated.
His work on the finances so that you are never financially running away with the game makes it that more difficult.
And my major gripe being with the Diplomacy in Vanilla is changed too, Alliances count for more and there is a greater incentive to make and keep Alliances.
Nothing major has been changed, just subtle differences that make the game play so much more interesting, a polished version of Vanilla.
I never played SS so cant comment.
But I have played TATW and tbh its a cool idea just the standard of gameplay is so much more interesting in KGCM.

I like them both, but TATW is slightly better imo, mostly because SS has really long turn times

What is this about long turn times in SS? I've only played vanilla M2TW for various reasons, but played mods in the earlier series with great enjoyment, especially M1TW.

Oh, I set the time to be 6 months per turn for a Byz campaign because I'd just done the Mongol and Timurid invasions twice as Turkey and Russia on vhd, and wanted variation with it. Is this what you mean, and can't you just adjust the turn length in SS to whatever you want?
