    Default descr_strat - ask for help - advice

    I have just started a work on descr_strat.txt . It seems that this issue is simply: function
    bulit
    }
    buildings_name
    (
    Unfortunately, after the startup, the game land on manu leval. The same like after new hidden_resources introduction I would not delete map.rwm.
    First reaction - deletem map.rwm. No effect. Then I checked precisely my work. No bugs.
    Now I don't know what to do. So i would like to ask you for help or advise. Maybe shuld I change not only desr_strat?

    Help!

    To activate -show_err you need to go into properties on the RTW icon on your desktop. Go to the option 'target'. At the end of the command line after the quotations. Add -show_err.

    It should look like this:
    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -show_err

    This helps find errors in your modding when your game loops back to the menu screen. To see the error you need to press ALT-F4 when the loop occurs.

    Post here what the error is.

    hmmmm. I don't know if is it important or not, but the game doesn't escape to the windows. It simply doesn't enter to strategic map.
    Anyway I'll check it at home. thx

    As I supposed it doesn't work. Or I cant do it correctly. I mean - after ALT-F4 I had no error message.

    I checked it again (I mean I restored saved version of desr_strat.txt and after ensure, that it works I introduced a new formuna again) I ran BI and new mission. The same effect). I really don't know what wrong is.

    Help!

    well adding show_err should show the problem if when you select which faction you want to play and then try to launch a campaign and instead of coming up with loading screens it just goes back to the main menu. are you sure you added show_err correctly

    I'm sure. I added it cerrectly. There is another possibility: I can use alt+f4 nt in correct moment. Shuld I use it immediately after going out to the manu (it isn't main menu - it is those menu which let me load, continue the game etc

    Are you shure, that if I change descr_strat I have not to change same another files?

    Just to add a building into a city. You have to only edit descr_strat. Can you post the section that you edited? I will look at it.

    I have just added a new class of buildings (like limes or military training) and prepared "normal" buildings for rome only. For exampe I have 3 levels of limes(added in export_descr_buildings, export_descr_buildings_enums and export_buildings) :
    limes1, limes2, limes3
    So I added in descr_strat
    building
    }
    type buildings_class buildings_name
    (
    (I can mistake here, because I could forget this function - but I'm sure I added i it correctly in the file)
    I have changed the "normal" bulildings to the precisely buildings for rome only. For example:

    before changes:
    building
    {
    type market forum
    }

    after changes:
    building
    {
    type handel forum_r
    }

    What is that?

    To be used as a building it must be registered in the export_descr_buildings.txt under the correct faction.

    it is roman version of third level of market (forum in original). It is correctly added in export descr_buildings and without changes in descr_strat it works properly.

    I still dont know what handel is. And forum_r wont register unless there is more after r.

    I told you - I introduced to the game the buildings for roman only. "Handel" is an equivalent of "market" buildings class and forum_r of forum. I simpy wanted to make the play a little mor realistic (after the conquer is normal that the economi is in ruin - so after introducing the partucularly buildings for each fraction - you must build all privinces economy from scratch.

    To tell you the truth - i don't know too. This game can from time to time makes someone angry

    have you tried -show_err? it generally tells you where you went wrong so it could help to pinpoint the problem
    also it could be if you are using bi/1.3 onwards there are several problems with adding new buildings i think (or hope) this is fixed in the 1.5/1.6 patch

    I use 1.6 patch.
    I tried show_err, but, unfortunately I cant use it, or it doesn't work

    right-click on your rome icon and go into properties then add onto the end of the target line ' -show_err' and then try to play the game when it crashes quit and you should get a error message coming up... if not then you have tried something that can't be done
