    Default Location Problem

    Hi all,

So I freed up enough space on my hard drive to fit both Kingdoms and Stainless Steel with enough spare gigs to be comfortable, but now I've run into a different problem. As explained on this forum, it says to install this game directly into the "...SEGA/Medieval II Total War" path, which I did. But when I try to launch Stainless Steel after following directions, it gives me this cranky message:

"Launcher Error: Mods must be placed on the same drive on which MTW2 is installed! Move the mod folder to the D drive for the mod to work!"

And I say: what? Where did I miss that part? I see the "Mod" folder within "Medieval II Total War", but why do I suddenly need to move it elsewhere just for this mod to work? I also see the new "SS6.3" folder within "Medieval II Total War" where it should be; do I simply have to copy that into the "Mod" folder for this problem to go away? What's going on? A clear explanation would be extremely helpful, cuz I'm obviously lost.

    Thanks,
    Eric, aka Roma_Victrix

Where is your M2TW installed C:\ or D:\?
Wherever your default game is stored you have to install the mod in that location.
Move the folder to D: as you have mentioned in your OP and it should work.

He messed up his installation, it's close to where it should be though, he did pick the right location, just a wrong subfolder.

@OP: Yes, you should move it into the \Medieval II\mods section.

Not messed up installation but installed it in the wrong directory.
Also SS by default locates the right location, he shouldn't have changed the directory in the first place.

That's just the thing: MDII is installed on C:\ drive! So why the hell would it even mention putting it on the D drive? That is NOT where the game is actually located! What gives? Can anyone help me with this? I want to play this game so bad, but my computer is being a total ass hat at the moment.

    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

Ah! That's great. Thank you. So it's really that simple?

What? It prompted me for where I wanted to place it, but from the looks of it just gave me a drop down menu for my program files without specifying where it was going to put it, so I figured it should be done manually. I guess I was wrong to think that!

It's working great now! Thanks for all the help guys.

I meant to say he messed up the installing, so his installation 'process' was messed up. Maybe 'mesed up' is a little too hard, but well, I'm Dutch so I'm saying things straight from the shoulder.

Which mirror / installer did you use?
