LAG, irritating LAG

Hi all,

I have been playing RTW for MONTHS probably, an am next to addicted... even bought a new comp during the time. The FUNNY thing is, after the purchase at FIRST it worked like a clock (supersmooth camera @ full detail 1024x768x32, WOW), but then it somehow got back to "old" style with really bad FPS rate. After I downloaded the latest driver from Nvidia, it again worked flawlessly, but, alas, today it AGAIN got back to same old crappy framerate. This is manifested EVERYWHERE, not just in the battles, but also in scrolling around the map, in troop movements and even MENUS (you know that smooth way that scroll opens? well, mine DOESN'T! not anymore)

I have an AMD 3200+, GeForce 6600 PCIX 256MB, 1 gig of RAM, integrated sound card (MB is "GIGABYTE technology NForce4"). The game runs from one of my OLD disks (5 yrs or so), but I don't think this could be it?

I would DEARLY appreciate any help since it really drives me NUTS. The game CAN be played, sure, just like I played it on the old comp, but NOT after seeing what this one can do in RTW...

Do you have 1.5 installed?

Defragged lately, checked the drive for errors, check if the drive is failing.
