Now that I have SS installed, do I only need the disc to play the game. Can I delete the MTW game? I am running out of space and it is a monster set of files.

    No.
You may, however, delete the other folders in your "Mod" folder, besides obviously SS6.3

You can also run Disk Cleanup in windows if you think that you are running out of space. I presume you have your game in C:\ drive that is primary partition so it will clear a lot of space generally 2-4 GBs easily, restore points also take unnecessary space so deleting them as well in disk clean up would help considerably.

SS6.3 is almost 6 GB, though. 5.8 GB with the Fixes.
With the Compilation + UIOP, it's above 6 GB, even.

Ah, the memories of having 37 gigs of M2TW:K due to mods...

I do not miss that, now down to a much more manageable 17.

Default How many MB is this mod?

    Hi all,

So I recently became burned out on playing Europa Barbarorum (how many times must one conquer the western world as Roma and then Koinon Hellenon? lol). I always enjoyed vanilla MDII TW, but when I saw this mod my jaw dropped and my mouth immediately watered like a dog hearing his dinner bell!

So I decided to purchase Kingdoms which is now at a decent price, but was shocked at how gigantic the size of the game is (roughly 5 gigs!). I have a 74 gig hard drive and almost all my free space is now used up except for a few gigs. From the looks of it, Europa Barbarorum is much bigger than vanilla Rome: Total War, so this mod has me quite scared of the potential outcome!

Does anyone know exactly how large Stainless Steel is once it's downloaded? I hope I don't need to buy a new hard drive with tons of extra space just for this game alone! Or perhaps a purge of programs, files, and junk on my computer is necessary.

Cheers to anyone who gives me an accurate estimate,
    Eric, aka Roma_Victrix

    6 gigs, barely.
Also be warned your computer needs space to think, and if you only have a single digit % wise of your hard drive left to think, you run the risk of severe lag due to a lack of temporary room.

Thanks for the speedy reply! That's a shame. I'll be able to play Kingdoms but not the mod, which looks 1000 times better. That is, unless I purchase a new hard drive altogether with much more space.

    Cheers,
    Eric

Oh trust me, this is 1000 times better, as it takes everything good about Kingdoms and improves it and combines it.

Please do remember to update to 1.5 after you install Kingdoms though, as it is an older version out of the box. I hope you enjoy it! Have fun.

Also, you can delete the Kingdoms campaigns. Should free a couple of GB.
I also recommend running a program like CCleaner, and maybe TreeSize Free to find unnecessary files.

Or just buy a E30 or $40 250g drive. Most games will require more than 73g will hold that soon enough. That is price for decent external drive. Internal PC drives are even cheaper though laptop isn't. I prefer put most thing I use rarely on external and games and few important programs on main disk.

And remember that you can activate the compression (if your drive is ntfs formated) for the /mods/ folder without any noticeable (at least for me) performance issues. SS6.3 goes down from 5,83 GB to 4,05 GB that way.

I just put everything on my 1.5 TB HDD
Since I recently reformatted, I've only filled 150-200 GiB or so of it so far. Had filled about 300 GiB before the reformat.
HDD's are really cheap. They cost less than 10 cents (USD or euro, doesn't matter) per GB these days.
