    Default Republic/Imperial Corhorts

Hi all, I just got to the reforms last night on my only successful Roman campaign in months. I have a problem, I don't have access to any Republican Legions. All my cities except for Sardinia and Corsica are built up to the Royal Barracks level. I havn't trained any Legions yet (replacing town watch with Urbans) and was wondering if I should Just raise the Imperial Army or if I should mod the game to allow Republican legions with the Super barracks.

I know the Rules say never to mod the game, but I fear that by skiping the republican legions I might be missing somthing.

Something is wrong with your game what version are you playing? and is this an old saved game? You should be able to build republican legions with previous barracks. See I made it the Barracks BEFORE the Last one so the Player can play the Republicans as long as they like, until they build the last barracks. I think you should have READ the README.

Do you have slipped disc or something? I only ask because you keep repeating yourself.

Anyway, I never bother with republic legions. At some point your going to upgrade the barracks so you can get imperial legions and when you do Republicans can no longer be recuirted, handy if your a democrat I guess but for the rest of us its a pain when you republic legions that can no longer be retrianed.

I do! And it sucks! (thrown out my back 8 times now) How does having a "slipped disc" imply a slang of a "broken record", or something reptitious? I've never heard of "slipped disc" used as that kind of slang before.

LT, is is possible to make an install have an automatic pop-up with a word file of the READ ME like the 1.2 patch does when you install it? That might help a little. Maybe.

I noticed that, Half my cities can build republicans, and the other half Imperial(mostly sicily with its huge populations) I JUST got the reforms around 200BC so my cities were already mostly built up. What would you suggest: Play with the republicans till say, 100BC or so and then switch off to Imperial. Or Train Imperial right off the bat?

Yeah, the readme doesn't say anything about 'when' to train imperial legions, it does say what trains them. I was asking wether or not to train the best troops right away, or if I should back off and play with the republicans for a few years.

The readme states when they are built with the correct building. I did this so those that just want to play with Republican legions can do sofor as long as they want, and those that want Imperial Cohorts can also by building the next building. I think its silly to have both together to be recruited when one is an older version of the other. Kinda like Premarius units, why not keep them around then? See it becomes a Kiddy game then.

Over all I like the Urbans for only Royal Barracks, because it means it has to be an Imperial Palace there. Better city = better gaurds, unless you import them. lol Either that or premarius them where you they disappear. may be a better Idea to make them Premarius?

I am open on that one.

Yep, too bad that doesn't help me with the origional question. I wasn't asking when I can train Imperials, I was asking wether or not I SHOULD train imperial troops right away, or if I should spend time with the republicans. READ THE README doesn't help when you know you can train both, it does help when you ask when can I train Imperials, but not when you ask SHOULD I.

Sounds to me like you were asking why you didnt have any Republican Legions with your barracks. Anyone reading that would come to that conclusion you were pretty specific in your problem. lol
