Garrison script. How do I....
First off, I am not someone who mods. I really just enjoy playing the game. I'm not as good as half of you people who play this on VH/VH. But I find enjoyment in the way I play and that is good enough for me.
I've been playing this mod for about 5 days off and on with various factions. I've done well and I've been stomped flat within 40 turns usually due to my impatience and willingness to risk.
Now I wasn't initially aware that the enemy gets to allow a stack of good troops to magically appear every time I attack one of his damned cities. I carefully scout ahead with my spies, guage the distance to the next stack of troops he will attempt to bring in as reinforcements, and guage how long I can siege or if its even feasible. And after such carefull calculating....poof.....a stack of troops are warp gated in and what I was going to try and rush with a single tower becomes reinforements that not only drive away my force but siege MY city in turn. I'm usually near broke and my troop count for deployment are dwindling. Its really frustrating.
I don't mind the AI doesn't have to pay upkeep. I don't mind the AI doesn't have to basically pay for anything. I don't care. I can beat the AI. What I have a hard time accouting for is the damned magical port gated troops that randomly poof in certain cities (doesn't always happen but happens all the time with certain ones..edoras...minas tirith...western osgiliath) that I can't account for.
Now that I'm done ranting a bit I can get on with the part where I need help. First I want to ask a question. Is the game so easy that removing this script would basically make this an "I win" scenerio? It seems the increased troop production and the ridiculously high moral of the enemy (a whole different story) lends enough challenge for me. But perhaps I don't understand what I'm about to ask. How big of an impact would removing this script do?
Now let me tell you I have searched the forum for the specific question I wanted answered and the closest I have found was a discussion where someone wanted to tweak the timeline of the game and the game scripts came into discussion. So I'm passingly familiar with where to find the files. But what I really want to know is specifically how I can go in and correctly identify the portion to be edited within the file Example: what specific line of text or body of text; and what I would have to specifically change its values to. i cannot stress enough the need to be specific. I am not familiar with these things. I'm not an idiot, however, and I can find things but it just would be helpfull for me.
Does anyone else feel like perhaps the map is too big or there simply is way too much open space....everywhere? Its maddening trying to play as the Haradrim and getting troops together from so far away. Even Gondor is a logistical nightmare. You have alot of cities/castles but only really a couple are functionaly to your needs. The others require long term planning because of so many turns needed to get them to the front and that is just at the beginning of the game. I'm just going on previous experience in TW games.
Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

Re: Garrison script. How do I....
Terribly sorry. I read the FAQ again and found the answer. my apologies. If you care to comment on anything else, such as your experience playing it without that particular script active or to just generally brag about how you play it on vh/vh with the script and are terribly bored with the ease you beat the computer with in order to poke fun....feel free.

Re: Garrison script. How do I....
The map is indeed large, but I dointfind it a real problem. playing harad you always have the problems of the large terain.
I am playing a Harad campaign at this very moment. perheps I got some tips for you
1) use your navy to transport troops. Umbar is you army production center. it takes you 3 turns to bring troops by ship to the frontline en 12 turns when marching by land. use the sips also to retrain troops quickly. the regions close to condor have a poor recruitment slot and takes time to upgrade.
2) make a strong navy and blokkeed every port of Condor wil desrupt there economie and there army side. they mostly have only one or 2 ships. so destrooi there navy quickly is a nice way to win.
3) use spies to open gates in the first turn of siege wil dirupt there garrason script easy
4) doin't marche on the cities of condor until you have a strong army. let Mordor do the hard work, ofcourse be aware condor doin't get to strong and destroois mordor.
5) harad got many generals and some got nice movement points
6) build baracks for law and watch coruption early in game
