lol wtf moment

i had 1 retinue longbow as England, and defeated 3 full stacks of french cavalry. THe french just continuesly charged into my stakes. I was planing on geting rid of those soldeirs, but they slew over 2000 french knights, when my guys ran outa arrows, they just slashed any knights who got threw the pikes. oddly i got a close victory, even thouge i only lost 15 guys? so anyone elsse have wtf moments?

Most of my wtf moments are when I'm attacking another army, notice I have a clear advantage, choose auto resolve because I expect a strong victory, and my army somehow loses. I've heard it's because of a number roll and all that, so I know why it happens. Also when I do sieges with battering rams, the computr tends to give the rams to my ranged units. That doesn't make sense to me.

I always use infantry for the rams because my ranged units are firing at the enemy, and when the gate is broken I want my infantry to be ready if the enemy infantry comes through.

On a mod I played last week playing as Denmark, my family tree ran out by turn 40. I wasn't at war with anybody. Can't remember the name of it, I'll have to search my documents.

P.S. I just beat a full stack of HRE with 1 General, 2 units of town militia, and 1 unit of peasant archers (turn 25) defending my capital. They only had 1 ram and 1 ladder. I routed the troops controlling the ram, killed the spearmen on the wall, and the rest of their army was cavalry so they had no way in and I won. I routed them by sending all my troops after them, and we routed the ram troops before they got close to killing us. Then when the ram troops came back they just went to the walls not back to the ram. Stupid AI.

Once I charged a crapton (about 6 units) of Byzantine spearmen and milita with my 5 dread general and 2 mounted seargeants. I routed every single one of the buggers.

Yeah, but I didn't exactly make it, so I wouldn't know how to change it.

I think they had 11 units, two of which were archers. I had a few more units, 2 spearmen and 2 crossbows and/or peasant archers (I was Venice, and playing SS6.1), but they were engaging the other Byzantine units.

it's when I use Auto-Resolve because i'm too lazy to play the battle, and end up losing or suffering heavy casualties, BUT if I had played the battle I would of probably suffered less than 100 casualties, killed or captured their general, and devasted them.

When i attack an army in the campaign map, and they are standing on a slightly elevated position. I usually think that its going to be just a small hill on the battle map, but it always appears to be Mt. Everest, in the middle of the French plains. Also sometimes in the battle map, a huge monastery spawns between me and my enemy. Really annoying!

That's one reason to consider repeated heavy cavalry strikes, as your army closes in for hand to hand combat. There is no better way to win but by having your enemy's army disorganized before engagement.
