Repeated "launching game" error

I all.

When I click to launch NTW in STEAM about 70% of the time the game goes into an indefinate state of limbo trying to launch. The only way to stop it is to right-click STEAM in the taskbar and click exit, then restart STEAM and this usually solves the problem and I can succesfuly launch the game. I have no other issues regarding NTW, besides this.

Does anything know how to fix this slightly annoying issue??

Upgrade your computer is a possiblity.

Not neccesary. My rig is self-built and runs NTW as well as all other games at highest settings smoothly.
This issue is not performance-related.

OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Have you installed directx 9.0c, C++ 2005 SP1, and .Net 4?

Yes I have the DX9.0c
It looks like I have everything....

I get this with another old game on Steam. Starwars - Empire at war.

It annoys the hell outa me but all it is is one of those wierd things Steam decided to do. It deteles one of the small game files that accompanies your Steam installation.

When your game starts doing this. Verify the integrety of your game cache and it will re-download one file. All should be well then.

(At least this is the fix for me)

Contact Steam support, then. They are the delivery system.

I have verified the integirty of NTW's insallation and so far it seems to of done the trick! Odd how a file managed to go missing though!

22+gb for this game and all depending on a wire to my house, I'm surprised more is not lost.
