    Default GPU overheating

A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread about whenever I play games it lags and then stops for a minute and then starts again and repeats this process over and over. I opened HWMonitor and looked at the GPU temp and it is idleing at 80-90 degrees Celsius and during games goes up to as far as 120 degrees Celsius.

I'm looking for a way to keep the gpu cool without adding any new fans. The reason I can't add any new fans is because the computer is a rental (Get the computer and pay it off over time) and if one small thing s up while adding them we get into trouble with the shop. Please help I haven't played a game properly in over a month.

Wow, if you can't add any new fans, or modify the cooler or anything, you probably need to return it. Sounds like a broken graphics card.

What graphics card model is it btw?

    That mixed with dad's paranoia.

Really Nvidia 9500 GS. I'm considering getting a full-sized floor fan and sitting it next too the computer

90 C? It should be dead already. To get to those temps your fan shouldnt even be running. Check if it actually does spin and check how hot the GPU is from inside. Also check if there are any wires between the fan, because that stops it from spinning. Happened to me.

Your readings might also be false, because at 120 C the GPU would fry pretty soon.

Take it back to the shop and tell them it's broken. They should fix it for you, or replace it, right?

90-120c is not normal by any stretch of the imagination.

I have a whole bunch of suggestions ranging from a new cooler, to extra fans, to using compressed air to get rid of dust, to managing airflow inside the case (cable management), to a replacement GPU but all of those seem like ideas that you don't do on a rental.

Take it back to the store and let them deal with it.

I've got my fan sitting at my feet at full blowing throughout the system right now, its decreased by about 10-20 degrees andd btw the way the gpu ain't even got a fan. Tried to convince dad to let me put the fan from my old gpu on it but but guess what the answer was.......
