Gondor Destroyed - Arnor Requirement

Okay, so I'm on Turn 67 of playing Eriador when I get a notice that Gondor is destroyed. Now, I was in an alliance with them before their destruction, but I'm not sure if that will still apply to my 'becoming Arnor' requirements now. Is it impossible for Eriador to become Arnor after Gondor's destruction?

If it isn't possible for my Eriador to become Arnor after this event, is there any way I can edit some code so that it thinks I've met the Gondor alliance condition?

I've played a campaign in which that happened and was still able to turn into Arnor even after Gondor was destroyed. However you must have been allied to them prior to them being destroyed.

Don't worry. You can still become Arnor. Happened to me too.

Just thinking of this scenario, it's kind of a cool possibility, an "alternative universe" to the way the books played out... Aragorn doesn't make it to Minas Tirith in time, Gondor falls under the shadow of the Eye, and the lost kingdom rises keep fighting under King Elessar.
