This is actually a few days old but...

Liam Neeson was long attached to topline Lincoln, but finally dropped out in July, saying that he’s past his sell-by date, implying that he is too old to play the figure. The casting of Daniel Day-Lewis should please just about everyone, however. It’s an exciting choice for the film. And this is great news for fans of the director; after a couple years in which it seemed he was struggling to get a film financed he’s now in a position to have four rapid-fire releases from 2011 to 2013.

Could work — he'll have to lose the ear rings, though.

One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

Nicholas Cage probably would've made a good Lincoln. I'm dissapointed that he wasn't considered.

DDL is a superb actor and I'm pretty sure that he'll make a superb role.

Nicholas Cage would most certainly not have made a good Lincoln. Lewis will probably do great, as he always has.

So, will this be the Lincoln that slashes Jefferson Davis with a knife in a southern bordello? Because honestly, that's the sort of image that DDL conjures in my mind, lol.

Schindler's List was an excellent film. you talkin about?

Anyway, Spielberg in his younger years was a fantastic and imaginative director. The movies he's made in the last decade have been okay to sub-par; hopefully this one will revive his status as a top director.

I agree that Cage would be horrible as Lincoln. Lewis is perfect.

This will be very interesting. Only seen DDL in There Will Be Blood (one of my all time favorites). I imagine that this will be a quite different role Will be interesting to see what will come out of it.
