    Default Command?

So, a quick question. How does command work in Fourth Age? I've never played the Rome campaign extensively but in Medieval II it seems to be pretty straightforward. However, do the same mechanics not apply for Fourth Age? My main general in my Adunabar campaign has had three command stars pretty much forever despite his participating in at least a dozen major battles and winning every one. And actually, on that note, it seems to be quite a struggle getting any of my generals to increase their stats.

He doesn't have any negative traits or ancillaries that I can see and several ones that should increase his command, so what's up?

    Thanks in advance guys.

In the description of the trait/ancillary it says +X command or +X command when attacking/defending? If it's the latter the the rest of the stars only appear when he attacks/defend.

    Default Re: Command?

I have noticed in general that traits, at least the good ones, do not show up as readily in FATW as they do in vanilla and many other mods I have played. This is probably caused by the probability settings the devs established for such things in this mod. A trait might only trigger once out of 50 or 100 opportunities to do so.

I think the devs wanted to leave room for the quite spectacular traits that can be acquired through association with Elves and Dwarves when just the right steps are followed. I think they also wanted the Men of Darkness and Shadow factions to fall behind the Men of the West in the quality of their generals.

Just speculation on my part, but if you look at the documents in the mod folder relating to traits and ancillaries, the likelihood of each is described in a ratio in the "trigger" section.

Also, many traits/ancillaries, have as a requirement that the character have 100% of their movement points, i.e., the character cannot have moved that turn in order to be eligible for the trait. Many times I had played this mod in the past I had often sent my governors just out of town, and then back again, just to see if there where any mercenaries to be had, thus unwittingly dooming myself to mediocre governors.
