Default How do I play historical battles?

First off, I would like to say that this is the greatest RTWBI and maybe RTW in general mod that I have ever played, and I have played a lot of them. I have to say the Comitatenses are great. They are historically accurate and there are different legions of them that differ with shields and armor, and I like that. They look like they did in "Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire" on BBC. I also like how you actually start out with armies in the campaigns, unlike in BI where you have no armies, every city hates you and you have hordes of barbarians on your doorstep. I also love the non-color coded units which makes it way more realistic. And the fort systems across the empire are amazing. You have the equivalent of Hadrian's wall in Britannia and they make it easier to defend the empire. Making money seems impossible in the 361 campaign though, I am not sure how to win at that.

But how do I play the historical battles? Sometimes when I try to play them I get a CTD or it doesn't go through and sends me to the historical battle page. I thought you could because there are a few youtube videos about them, one being the Battle of Chalons. Some of the unit cards have their unit names and stats in the "choose your faction" page, but the unit cards are peasants from RTW. Unless you can't even play them at all, does anyone know how to play the historical battles?

The short answer is you can't. Historical Battles were not deemed a priority for the release. See here for further!

Thanks, I was worried that I installed it wrong. A historical battle might be fun to play with the armies of the late Roman Empire. But it would still just be a bonus. The mod itself is still great and the historical battles (or lack thereof) is not a deal-breaker.

Yes, I thought it best to concentrate on the campaigns. I would rather set up historical battles with other players via online games. You are more than welcome to participate.

There is somewhere on the main site a patch allowing you to refight Adrianopolis, the person who created this claimed its based on the historical records.
