Hi Vlad, I downloaded the 2 files that you had posted in this thread Download links ?

First one was - Vlad Total War Roman expansion mod - for Rome 1.5 (new ver 1.0 !!!) 21 oktober 2009. From this site: http://depositfiles.com/files/j92j9iovi

The second was - Vlad Total War barbarian invasion.

    From here: http://files.filefront.com/VLAD+MOD+BARBARIAN+INVASION7z/;13164013;/fileinfo.html

I'm not very experienced with installing Mods and have to admit that the fault is probably mine. The only other Mods that I've ever downloaded were the "BUG-FIXER" (v3.36) from player1 and IBFD (Invasio Barbarorum - (Rio's) Flagellvm Dei ; and I think both of them had auto installers.

    I have RTW/BI (patched v1.6). My computer's a Dell Inspiron "1545" Laptop. Rating: 3.4 , Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU, T4400 @ 2.20 GHZ, RAMM: 3.00 GB, 64 -bit Operating System. Windows 7 (Home Premium edition).

After downloading the two files I extracted the Vlad Total War Roman expansion mod - for Rome 1.5 (new ver 1.0) straight into : C: / Program files (86X) / The Creative Assembly / Rome - Total War (The Main Game Directory).

Then I went and extracted the Vlad Total War barbarian invasion files straight into:

    C: / Program files (86X) / The Creative Assembly / Rome - Total War/ bi

When it gave the prompt to write over (all) the files I clicked Yes! This is were I probably made the first mistake! Because afterwards I noticed that there was no Mod Folder for Vlad Total War? Also, I don't know anything about Mod switches, so I'm guessing perhaps that is another mistake?

So I start up RTW/BI from the default exe. (dsktp short-cut) and all that loaded was the splash screen - "Vlad Total War barb. invasion"... followed by : Generic Error: DATABASE_TABLE error found: error reading record from file data/descr_ship.txt.

I hope that you can help me with where I went wrong??? Because this Mod looks absolutely brilliant, first rate in everything that I've seen about it so far and I really would like to be able to play it soon!

    C: / Program files (86X) / The Creative Assembly / Rome - Total War/ bi
from folder "bi" in mod ---> to "bi" in game
Also, I don't know anything about Mod switches, so I'm guessing perhaps that is another mistake?
    here no switches .
So I start up RTW/BI from the default exe. (dsktp short-cut) and all that loaded was the splash screen - "Vlad Total War barb. invasion"... followed by : Generic Error: DATABASE_TABLE error found: error reading record from file data/descr_ship.txt.
    1) Instal original "CLEAN" game rome total war +barbarian invasion + official patch from "CA" company 1.6 for barbarians.

2)Then download "(vlad mod 133 mgb) for rome 1.5" from here , and unpack in game folder ( IN GAME FOLDER - NOT IN DATA folder)
    http://files.filefront.com/VLAD+TOTA.../fileinfo.html
but game must start work without rome 1.5 !!!!!! (from rome 1,5 mod barbarians use only some models-not many)

3)Then unpack "bi mod" and put in game folder vlad mod for barbarian invasion. ( IN GAME FOLDER - NOT IN DATA folder ) from "bi" in "bi"

Thanks Vlad for the reply! So If I understand you correctly one mod folder goes into the main directory; in my case into : [ C:/Program files(86X)/The Creative Assembly/ Rome - Total War ]

    And the other goes into: [ C:/Program files (86X)/The Creative Assembly/Rome - Total War/ bi ]

This is exactly what I did, but perhaps I didn't have the correct order of Mod files for the right directory, in other words I might have installed the wrong mod to each directory? Also I didn't have a clean version it of (RTW/BI) I had Bug-Fixer (v3.36) from player1 and IBFD (Invasio Barbarorum - (Rio's) Flagellvm Dei already installed in my game when I tried. So I will try with a clean reinstall as you suggested to do.

But now my only question to you is this, which version should I install after my clean install of RTW/BI the one you posted here:

    http://files.filefront.com/VLAD+TOTAL+WAR+NEW+15romon7z/;13030378;/fileinfo.html

And after this installation do I need another file for BI ? If yes then which one is the next file? Because I think this is were I made the mistake. Thank you for your time and patience with my questions.

BTW, don't know if it makes any difference but I'm playing on RTW/BI (Gold Edition)

Thanks, my mistake might have been the result from reading an earlier thread about Vlad Total War and downloading the 1st (oldest version) for only RTW and then downloaded another version for BI and probably put them both in the wrong folders. I will try again with a clean install patch (1.6), and only place the lastest (newest)version straight into the BI folder.
