Thread: The Hellenic States

    Default Re: The Hellenic States

incase anyone doesn't know how to run THS (or any mod) in bi.exe (or even alex.exe)!

    step one: go to:
    program files\rome total war [gold]\bi\data\ui\roman\interface
and copy "battlepage_03" into the same place in your THS data folder:
    (program files\rome total war [gold]\THS\data\ui\roman\interface).

step two: go to THS\data\text and copy the file named:
    "imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt" -- rename the copy
    "barbarian invasion_regions_and_settlement_names.txt"

step three: go into the THS\data\world\maps\campaign folder and copy the folder named:
    "imperial_campaign" -- rename the copy
    "barbarian_invasion"

    step four:
copy your bi shortcut or make a new one. right click and select properties.
in the box labeled 'target' paste:
"Program Files\rome total war [gold]\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:THS with the quotations.

If you have steam, right click on your rtw gold icon and select properties and then set launch options launch in the space, type: -mod:THS

let me know if this works/is right

    rep party!

Anyway, I wanted to keep this as some sort of surprise, but I'll tell you anyway! Since the Boii project has dead and right now I'm not motivated to work on it again, I'm working with cdpwane to create some new textures to bring justice to Pontus, one of my favourite factions I hope to post some previews soon!

Hello, I got a little screenshot. Today, out of boredom, I've created this texture for the romans. I was a little upset in seeing that the Roman Republic only had the Arcani changed in the Speculatores, so I thought about changing a little bit their aspect...What do you say about this texture, guys? If you like it, I'll work even on the rest of the Republican roster (just the Republican one for the moment, the Imperial will come next).

So, if everything's okay for you guys, I'm not going to release just a pontic overhaul, but even a roman one and, hopefully, of some other factions...

I've created the new principes texture, and worked again on the hastati one. Now they look a bit more heavier since they now got a more protective pectoral, but they'll remain light infantry anyway!

I'd just like to report a little bug I may have found.
Whenever I click on Siwa after I capture it I get a CTD.

Also, what is the point in the temples and shrines of Bacchus for the Romans?
It give mostly the same bonuses as Jupiter, in fact Jupiter's bonuses are better.
Pantheon of Bacchus give +50% to public order (Happiness) and +1% population growth.
Pantheon of Jupiter gives +35% to public order (Law) and +25% to public order (Happiness) and allows the recruitment of Speculatores.
Pantheon of Ceres gives +35% to public order (Happiness) and 2.5% population growth.

Mars would be a much better alternative to Bacchus. In vanilla, the Bruttii got bonuses to experiance and weapons with an Awesome Temple of Mars. Romans in this mod don't get any bonuses to experiance with temples but most other factions do. Artemis for Macedon gives missile weapon bonuses Teutatis for Gaulo-Celtic gives missile weapon bonuses too and Andrasta for Britannia give melee weapon bonuses. The Romans have no way to get "gold standard" weapon and armour except through capturing enemy settlements.

Is it possible to add to the number of shrines a faction can choose from? Ptolemaic Kingdom has 5 to choose from everyone else has 3.

And why is it that I can build upon a Temple of Athena and make it a Large Temple of Jupiter but I cant do the same with Zeus? or with Demeter and Ceres?

    Rant over.

Edit: Why can't you just make it so a Parthenon and Pantheon has all bonuses? Just increase the construction time and cost a little.

    Rant fully over.

hmm something for comrade general to look at i think.

Well, you can choose what you want to build. if you favour Jupiters bonus, just build those. Thats what i do, except when i want population growth, then i build ceres.

They dont realy need it, as they are powerfull enough as it is imo.

    yes

Its because of internal temple names.

you could mod your export_descr_buildings file so that it gives experience upgrades, armour and weapon upgrades, happiness bonsus, growth bonus, upgraded farms or law bonus.
There are some tutorials on this site and on the site in the link i just posted.

Thanks for covering all that, Sabazios

As for the CTD, a possible fix is as follows: first you need to open up .../Rome - Total War/THS/data/world/maps/base/descr_regions.txt and look for this line:
    Code:

    Libya
     Siwa
     numidia
     Libyans
     42 232 77
     slaves, camels
     5
     2
Change numidia to carthage and save the file. Then delete the file map.rwm in that same folder. I didn't get a chance to test if this works, but in theory it should.

I think Siwa starts of controlled by rebels so..... should I change Numidia to Independant (or is it rebels).

Sorry if I'm bothering anyone but, I have a few questions/issues.

    1) Does it make a difference If I run this mod in BI?
2)Why can't I recruit first cohorts in Rome? (or anywhere else for that matter)
3)The road which links Siwa to Nepte disappears/is invisible.

BTW I like the look of those Roman skins Cinuz.

BI enables swimming, night battles and shieldwall. See first post of this page how to.

You need marian reforms to train cohorts, did you already had them?

Yes, I already had the marian reforms, I built an imperial palace in any city in Italy et cetera. I can recruit legionary cohorts, early legionary cohorts, auxillia etc but, I cant recruit First legionary cohorts in Rome (but I can in custom battles).

I suppose running it in BI isn't save game compatible?
What about running it in Alex?
