MTWII setting the refresh rate
hi guys
apologies if this is a faq - I kinda assume it must be in the tech help somewhere but I can't find it.
I've just started having a problems with MTW setting my refresh rate to 60 hz when it runs. this makes my monitor streak like crazy. I'd rather run on lower settings than have it setting the refresh rate.
I've only noticed this since I started playing Kingdoms, but it could just be my monitor is now older than I when I was originally played vanilla total war.
Can anyone point me in the right direction
any help much appreciated.

Re: MTWII setting the refresh rate
I don't think ypu can set it lower. Mine is only 60 or 75.
It could be your graphics card is underpowered. Kingdoms does require more resources than Medieval2.
Post your dxdiag. http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...agnostics.html

Re: MTWII setting the refresh rate
I don't want to set it lower - I want to stop MTW from setting it lower.
I'm running with it at 75 - it keeps switching it down to 60.

Re: MTWII setting the refresh rate
Why? This game is old enough, it could be 60, anyway.

Re: MTWII setting the refresh rate
because as I said, at 60 hz, it makes my monitor streak.
therefore I want it to refresh faster.

Re: MTWII setting the refresh rate
I've tried it with and without - it streaks in both cases - currently it is set.
I've even gone as far as setting the "don't allow applications to mess with the refresh rate" in the graphics card config and it still does it. I'm kinda at a loss here.

Re: MTWII setting the refresh rate
I just checked the medieval2.preferences.cfg and there is no refresh rate setting listed.
Do you have vsynch checked?

Re: MTWII setting the refresh rate
What kind of graphics card/chip and how much dedicated graphics memory? Have you tried lowering monitor resolution? I don't think refresh rate has anything to do with it.
