This damn game is so frustrating!!!

this game is so great and impressive in lots of ways but so damn frustrating in multiplayer which is a joke as that seems to be all most people play.

the pathfinding is horrendus and i'm fed up having to ungroup units before i can move them, otherwise god only knows where the will go.

my main issues just now is that i was playing a game (ranked) in ligny, his rules where max 2 art &no fixed etc. he was france and was obvously gonna bring to Howys so i did the same but cranked up the experience of each of mine by 2 chevrons.

so i should win the arty battle eh??

nope, as soon as i hit his arty and killed some men he ran a unit into a building so my art AUTOMATICALLY aim for the building, which allowed his arty to devestate mine. pretty much game over.

i have never heard of this bug till this week, or noticed it but it's so frustrating!!!!

Adapt or die in MP gaming. He was the better player as he used his knowledge to his advantage.

In future you will beat another player by now knowing what you do. Then he will come here, rant and the cycle will continue.

how do you work that put? both arty was on hills, mines where more experienced and had the best chance to win, should have won.

that isn't my issue, my issue is with the art bug WHICH ALLOWED HIM TO ATTACK MY ARTY WITHOUT REPLY.

Seems to work better if you target the ground just before the opponent artillery. The balls bounce and take out the opposing pieces more often.

You need to learn to micro your artillery. Don't let it sit there on fire at will, tell it to shoot his artillery.

It's best to not target enemy artillery with your own at all actually.
Go for their cavalry which are easier to hit and their infantry which will take much heavier losses.
You may want to check out my MP artillery guide.

Manually aim at the ground just in front of your opponent's artillery. Don't expect the game to hold your hand, this is for big boys.

Your missig the point, maybe this is a bug in Ligny. but as soon as the enemy occupy a building the arty ONLY fires on the Buildings And WONT STOP. no matter what i do.

Anyone else noticed this?

i have only noticed in on Ligny myself

Maybe the building was in the trajectory of the artillery.

It's a howitzer.

Howitzers also have trajectory.

Happened to me as well on waterloo, all of a sudden my batter fires the building, even tough I keep telling them to attack another unit.

Really? That never happened to me.
Can't you "repair" it by cancel order/toggle fire at will?

I have to say I didn't try that, I just thought it was as said trajectory but whatever I did was for nothing :S

I just went back to more important matters as it was a late game and wasn't really motivated

I noticed these bugs as well, but I have found the reason for it (at least in my case)

If you select all your artillery pieces (fire at will off) and you order them to fire on a specific unit, then their orders get all messed up and they fire at a random(?) unit.

Now I just give each artillery unit their targets one by one, not much of a time loss.
Don't know if this is the same issue you guys are having .. just sayin'

Yeah in MP you have to micro manage your arty, or the artillery crew will punish you by deliberately firing at your own men.

empire and napoleon are disatorous games, they frustrate me in so many ways

all we can do now is pray to god every night that shogun 2 is actually playable upon release
