In the early period, i think the mitre would be a mixture between a short bearskin hat with a mitre in the front... but not a "pure" mitre like -for instance- the Prussian armies. But i think that this is a terminology discussion

But, no problem, Geronimo, the mitres -or "mini mitres"- in the early XVIII century were weared by spanish grenadiers. When i talk about mitre, i talk about the mitre of the example and in the late period -so far, in 1800-
Pom, might I suggest you look at using the hat of the euro_drummer2 model which is a default ETW model for the early mitres of the kind carricanta describes from the early 18th century? They are very close to the shape of the bearskin-mitre hybrid grenadier-caps. Screenshot below:Interesting Carricanta. They also look very close to the alleged early Portuguese grenadier mitres still worne by Grenadier musicians in the 1740s judging by the picture I showed a long time ago shown in MRR's book. Suggests to me that Portuguese and Spanish grenadier fashions were very close.Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Found this French grenadier mitre from Les Invalides here from the 7 years war, suggesting that it - like Spain - occasionally used mitres too. Intriguing - though it's apparently a controversial topic with some regarding it as having been worne by engineers instead.Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Fantastic pictures Carricanta! Just one thing, could you add the descriptions of the images so that we can know which units are those?
An awesome link with the Spanish Regiments in Napoles (1755) and the italian regiments under spanish flag
http://www.aulamilitar.com/
Switch " Estado Militar de 1755" directly and "siguiente" -next in english-
with regiments like
Regimiento de Infantería Val di Mazara
Regimiento Infantería Farnesio
Regimiento Nacional Basilicata
Because, when we talk about the Spanish Soldiers in the XVIII century, we don´t must forget the Americas, Filipinas, the Valons and the Italians
Impressive link with the Catalan Austriacista`s armies and his English allies (in catalonian idiom)

Oh thanks Carricanta, good work! I'll just wait for the captions of the Tropas Virrreynales.
And BTW, do you know anything about the uniforms of the spanish units in Africa (Ceuta, Oran, Mellila)?
Take a look
