Need help

Hi, I recently started playing rome again and wanted to try the xgm but after installing I get this error "please select and item from the list". Then when i close the game out I get a window saying
"Script Error in
xgm/data/world/maps/campaign/imperial_campaign/descr_strat.txt, at
line 21, column 1.
Expected start date of campaign or battle"
Tried reinstalling and I'm still getting the error. Any idea how to fix this. Running gold edition on windows 7 if it helps.

Uh did you tell it which version of Rome you wanted to use (Vanilla, Barbarian Invasion or Alexander)?

Are you using disk or steam version?
if your using steam go to the readme and find this link in the 'installing XGM section
Use Steam: This option will set up XGM to run through Steam, if you have the Steam versions of RTW Gold or Alexander. Note: Using the BI with Steam may require some manual installation.

That error is usually the result of having the wrong version of RTW. Check your version in-game on the options screen, top right corner. It should be 1.5 (RTW), 1.6 (BI), or 1.9 (Alexander).
