    Default mouse problems

    Hi
I just reinstalled MTW Gold on my PC but it kept crashing . It worked previously but have upgraded PC since . I updated Drivers for motherboard and graphics card and it works till I use my mouse . It works perfectly everywhere except on the battlefield where it doesn't register on the field or the different soldiers . I'm using windows xp
    Nvidia GEForce 8500 Gt
I tried 2x and all that but it kept crashing .
I updated mouse driver but nothing .
    Any Ideas ?

Do you have enabled mouse pointer trails ? This is in Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer Options > here make sure that Display Pointer Trails is unchecked .

I noticed that when I zoomed in really close to the object I'm clicking on it seems to work . Weird

No , you should disable Pointer Trails and it will most likely work .

Sorry maybe I was not clear enough . The mouse works fine on the icons on top of the screen and on the sides it just doesn't register on the main center screen . ie the battlefield and the units on the ground .

That's why I told you to disable/uncheck the Pointer Trails from mouse properties - this was the problem for many other players in some Total War games .....

For the third time , it is disabled . I hate trails and never use them .

That's why. With any Nvidia G84/G92 Graphics cards (That's all Geforce 8xxx/9xxx/GTS 250), you will NEVER be able to play battles.

However there IS a fix for the mouse problem, I think. I just forget where to find it. Mouse lag has nothing to do with your settings.

Here is the NVIDIA fix, it should fix your mouse problem.

However, you will still not be able to play battles, but if that doesn't matter to you, then have a great weekend and good luck on your MTW campaign!
