    Default Strat Map effects

    Hi everybody

    I know there are many things higher on the wish-list, but I was wondering if it was possible to make better effects on the strat-map like mist, clouds, volcano smoke(for Mount Doom) etc?

    Perhaps even a shiny eye of Sauron?
    Has any modder even tried in this field?

    This question has been asked many times, and the answer always given by people with much more technical know-how than me is... NO.

    The reason I asked was because the to some extent already exist i.e. have you noticed the smoke effect when you exterminate a settlement?
    Perhaps this could be made permanent over for example Mount Doom?

    Also... "Impossible" is relative(Same thing was said about costum settlements)

    this kind off stuff is probably hardcoded, this question is better asked in the scripting workshop

    Settlements in costume might be impossible but custom settlements were never said to be impossible. I don't get where people got that from, since before the mod was released the moderators made clear that the tool was in development.

    Do you mean like the movie depiction of Sauron? I thought that was a misreading - Sauron used the symbol of the Eye for his empire and a projection or metaphor of his will. But he was still humanoid shaped.

    The big bouncy, exploding eye at the end of the movies is very cartoonish.

    Isn't it possible to plant a rebel-fleet under mount doom so you cannot see it and make this blizzard-thing on it?

    What Blizzard-thing are you referring to?

    I think Blizzard is the wrong word (maybe normal storm would be better?). First and last time I saw that was when I played SS 6.0 as the order of templar. There was a rebel-fleet in the dead sea (inland sea near Jerusalem) since the first round. Sometimes I got a message about a "tragedy on the sea" or sth like that and when I looked at the fleet there were dark clouds above it. Maybe you could use it as smoke from mount doom ...

    Yes, scripted events allow to create effects via catastrophes BUT it will not really improve gameplay or visual aspect.

    So it would be theroreticly possible to place a unreachble exterminated rebel-settlement under mount doom? Or simply place a script that allow the smoke to spawn there permanently?

    The smoke that appears when you exterminate a settlement would be very fitting if made permanent
