Firstly don't necro-post in a thread that is one year old or 6 months in simple terms a dead thread.
Always create a new thread if in doubt & prior to that searching also helps.
Yeah, itīs impossible to destroy the Papal states.
You can render them non-existent by killing all their troops, all popes and all catholic priests on the map, but that would still not destroy the faction. They would just restart with a new pope as soon as anyone resruits a new catholic priest.
It would make them unable to do anything significant, however.
But as far as I know, there is no way of destroying that faction.

Did you not read the old posts? Someone there test played as Byzantium and destroyed all the Catholic factions and the Papal States still live, even if it was pretty much impossible for any Catholics to return.
papal_states can die! quite easily too! ok go into sega\medievalII\data open desc_sm_factions & change where it says (in the area for the papal_states) to can have family tree from no to yes
but this will cause them to act very aggressively but not a prob if you kill them quick!![]()
