Download and Installation help?

Hello fellow Broken Crescent players,

I just downloaded this fantastic looking Mod today, but whenever I go to play it, I get this error message:

medieva;2.exe - System Error

The program can't start because mss32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.

Something to note, I moved the entire SEGA folder out of the program files as Windows 7 dislikes me installing things into the Program Files. I also tried reinstalling it, but got the same error message. Has anyone gotten this before? If so, how do I make it so I can play the Mod? Thank you all very much!

Well, simply moving the SEGA folder is a bad idea as it makes the game unplayable in my experience. And yes, if you are using Windows 7, never ever install games in program files folder.
What game version do you have? You need to have at least 1.3 patch.

mss32.dll is a module for multimedia applications for audio playback and sound effects. It might be a problem of simply reinstalling the game. And if not you might want to upgrade your sound drivers. And if that does not help, you can find this dll file on the internet and download it for free. But there might be issues, and usually it is not recommended to do. And also there comes a problem of finding where exactly to put that file.

Does the message about mss32.dll show up only for this mod? Does the vanilla game work fine?

u have to upgrade it to patch 1.3 then try again as Neige said

Please I need urgent help!!!!!

I upgraded MTWII to 1.3.

When installing BC it says this error "broken_crescent/data/animations/pack.dat" The file contains invalid data (error 21FC).

What the heck should I do. I have small net speed and I was downloading the patches and the game for 2 days and now I cannot play.

Please help!!!!!!!

I'd like to know why MTWII shouldn't be installed into the Program Files folder in Windows 7. I ask because I use Win 7 and have always installed games into its program files folder, and all of them have worked without any problems whatsoever. What is so different about MTWII that it should be installed into that location?

If you want to play mods don't install it into Program Files. Win7 tends to be very protective over that folder and that is why people are having problems with mods.

I use vista. I followed the instructions completely. Got it on e partition which is separated from program files c.

Got it patched from 1.0 to 1.2 to 1.3. After that as soon mod starts to install I got the error message.

What now?

Hmm, I remember getting a similar message when patching to 1.3. Reinstalling into a different partition helped to solve the problem. Can't really suggest anything else, sorry. Except, you can first try simply reinstalling BC. (Delete the broken crescent folder and then launch the installer)

Downloaded patches from the downloaded section of the forum (both of them).

BC downloaded from yours troubleshooting thread and I think first or second megaupload link. I hope it's useful information?!

It may be that your download was unsuccessful and the package is corrupted indeed. Try what Neige has advised you and if it doesn't help, you will need to download BC again.

Are you sure you have used 1 or 2 link, and not 3? Because I got a feedback earlier that 3 is corrupted...
