VH/VH???
A question on the VH/VH options. If I choose VH for the AI strategy then the autoresolve of battles is screwed up, i.e. the computer has the advantage in autoresolved battles, right? This is especially upsetting for sea battles where you can't control the ships. There doesn't seem to be a way to control AI strategy "smarts" without affecting the battle autoresolve function is there? So why is it suggested to use VH/VH for DLV?
I always choose VH for the battles though, because that just changes the AI "resilience" - harder to rout.

Re: VH/VH???
In DLV+BB autoresolve is balanced for VH/VH using secondary hitpoints.
It can be fine tuned further, feedback from people that know roughly what to expect from my unit balancing and battlefield mechanics is very much appreciated

So what does the VH change if you've been able to rebalance it so that autoresolve battles are close to fair? Is the AI more aggressive on the map, smarter in keeping bigger armies together, coordinating its attacks?
Thanks Taiji.

Re: VH/VH???
Not meaning to sound off with you but basically I don't know or care. I balance DLV+BB for VH/VH and don't spare a thought for other settings. I think this kind of work takes a lot of testing and I really don't want to multiply that effort. So the mysteries of lower difficulties stay mysteries

Re: VH/VH???
Hey Taiji,
I've had a chance to play on VH/VH a bit by now and I still think the autoresolve is not balanced. For example, I fought the rebels with a slight advantage according to the bar before battle and got crushed - over 600 deaths to their 100. When I actually played, I lost 100 and killed close to 1200. Another battle, a siege of a settlement with a palisade and again, I lost on autoresolve with about 60% to 40% advantage on the strength bar. When I had a battle of 1600 to 800, I lost about 600 and so did the AI on autoresolve.
So although I think the balance of RT battles is nice, the autoresolve on VH is still off and requires an overwhelming advantage to come out on top in any battle.

Re: VH/VH???
Ah right the bar, yes I haven't really thought about that. Plus I don't really autoresolve battles much, hardly an expert.
I did what I can, in making troops perform roughly as they should with regards one another. But you are probably right and some difficulty related function is giving the AI an advantage in autoresolve.
It will cause a need for larger player navies... But then that is about as tactical as that gets. Needing a larger fleet is just about the only thing you can do to give the AI an advantage. So I approve really. The AI is not as capable as the player a repairing, etc., bless it, so it needs some other advantage.
