I've had it where Crusades and Jihads just keep getting called on the same city after Christians or Muslims take it from the previous owner. Never at the same time though....
Played my very first campaign as the French.
In the first crusade of the campaign (before excommunication) I managed to take Antioch...and expanded from there to take Adana, Edessa and Damascus nearby...another crusade got called against Jerusalem and obviously i was the first to get there and take it.
Then came my excommunication.
I didn't believe the French Pope would excommunicate me so I went against his mission and got excommunicated
Gave the Papal States half my fortune, my standing went back up to "outstanding", but still remained excommunicated
And the Mongolian hordes arrived.
The hordes wandered around abit before decidedly setting off for Antioch, bypassing fortified Adana.
At the same turn they crossed the bridge into Antioch, Turks called a Jihad against Jerusalem
Next turn, the Pope called a crusade against Antioch
How???
you're excommunicated, which means you're fair game for any Christian faction. This includes crusades. You're a Christian faction, which means you're a fine target for any Jihads they care to throw at you.
Also, you have to request reconciliation in the diplomatic screen. just giving him money won't do anything for you
Please rep me for my posts, not for the fact that i have a Pony as an Avatar.
Thanks! I had no idea that I had to request to be reconciledIn the end I declared against the Pope and killed him at a bridge battle after 3 armies of mine died
The next pope was a heck lot more obedient and called off the crusade
I need to ask, why is it that the college of cardinals aren't electing any new cardinals? The only cardinals are the new pope(French) and 1 priest preferati (French too), with 12 empty seats. From what I've read they do elect new cardinals when the old ones die?
It just happened to me as well for the first time.
I was playing as Egypt and I was crushing Sicily together with The Pope (ironically enough), and decided to call a Jihad on Tunis to finish them off. The following turn, The Pope called a crusade on Tunis as well. My first reaction was something of a "", but when I captured it, it quickly became a "
" . All the armies of Christendom, including my allies France and Venice, joined the crusade and declared war on me. At the same time, The Pope betrayed me and laid siege to Naples.
