New player - which version?
I see several DLV versions bouncing around. For a new player how should I go:
BB, Europa, 6.2, 6.3 beta... something else?
I am looking for a solid, stable, "historical/realistic", challenging and fun game... that's asking a lot!
Thanks!

Re: New player - which version?
So just go ahead and get DLV 6.2 /BB2.81 and start there over 6.2, 6.3 or Europa? But I should use the sound fixes before BB, right? Is it true you can not make any audio changes after installing BB, including just adding new music?

Re: New player - which version?
6.2 ww BB seems to be the best combo. 6.3 is beta and Europa is based on earlier work. Don't know about the sound issues you are mentioning although it is recommended to run 6.2 to establish the sounds before adding BB IIRC

Re: New player - which version?
Yes, if you are going to mod the sound then do it before adding BB. I've no idea where this problem comes from - ingame sounds really aren't my thing - and so no clue how to fix it. Ideally I'd like someone to come along and fix it, so here's hoping

Re: New player - which version?
I am actually very much a sound/music guy. Professionally actually, in toys/games/media etc. Maybe I'll look in to it.

Hullo AstroCat,
DLV 6.2 installed and played once to get the osunds to settle, then BB2.81 as the gang have suggested is right and canny. VH/VH playing setting of course - though you can opt out of some of the game set up Y/N events at the start to make it easier to play first time.
