counter to heavy cavalry with egypt (crusaders)

I'm playing with egypt in the crusaders campaign but I don't have many spearmen but I'm working on it, I only have mass light cavalry and missle cavalry and some infantry. whats a good counter to the heavy cav of jerusalem?

Use Horse archers:-

• Sibyan al-Khass.
• Mamluk Archers.
• Bedouin Camel Riders.

When using spearmen do a little micro-management when they charge retreat a little backwards as soon as they stop then attack and engage them in melee.

And to wrap it up if you have cavalry then flank them from behind when they are engaged in melee with your spearmen.

I remember playing as the egyptians and facing whole armies of knights. I build those dismounted spear guys, i dont know their actual name but theyre actual spearmen not militia, get as much of them as you can and add the saracen militia if theres not enough and make a sort of square shape and slowly move that to the enemy if they decide to wait it out. I wouldnt really use missile cavalry against the knights though but thats just me being impatient. I prefer good solid infantry. If you decide to use spears you should arrage them in long lines but join 3 units together to make a rectangle. So basically you get a spear unit, stretch it out and then do the same with another unit and put that one behind the first one. That allows you to send out 1 spear unit and still have a stable square at all times

Saracen militia are amazing spearmen. Horse archers and javelin cavalry are awesome because they outrun heavy cavalry while still being able to attack at them.

Get some spearmen, hole up in a fort and start a war (if u havn't already) and place them at the entrance. As much as the spear/pikemen are hated here, they can take out 3/4 of his cav/ body guards

Saracen Militia are quite good. Use them to absorb the enemy's charge while your Arab Cavalry, Ghulams, or Mamluks go around and lance them in the backs.
