Default Holy Roman Empire on VH/VH

I wonder how many people actually won a long campaign with HRE on VH/VH? I finally did it but it took a few tries. I readed the guide here and it didn't help me a lot so I change up my game plan. This how I did it.

    1. Set taxes on high to prepare for a rush against Milan and Venice because I hate those back stabbers.
    2. Focus on happy bonus buildings, because I been excommunicated 90% of the time.
    3. Make a marraige alliance to whoever powerful to the east so I can focus on the west(france).
    4. Since I was so mercyful, I had very trustworthy reputation even though I was being a bully.
    5. Never join a crusade, because it's a waste of resources and time. I rather invade a kingdom while there army on a crusade (very evil of me).

That basically what happen, me being a mercyful bully.
You know that you play too much Total War when you declare war in Monoploy after a player make the most rip off deal ever. If an AI offer me a deal of trading 2 of my cities for one of there and I also have to pay a heavy fee then the AI must be on a deathwish.

I usually do the same thing with HRE on VH\VH with a difference using pope to excommunicate by neighbor and calling crusades near homeland and getting Teutonic knights early in game.

HRE in VH/VH is basically a matter of defeating Denmark and Milan early. Once you do that, you have a relliable militar and economical base to proceed further.

Even though I finish the campaign? I haven't meet the mongols and the fearful Timids that people here keep talking about haven't arrive yet. I might actually have to keep playing to see how tough these Timids are.

You won't be finished when you're Reich is invaded by the Mongols and Timurids. Oh another option is available! Invade America Unless you haven't completed those quests you're not finished at all

    6. Mercenaires are a key to rapidly expanding your army. I had stacks that made up of nothing but mercenary spearmen and crossbows.
