    Default Oh, bother

My hard drive appears to be making loud squeaking noises. That's never a good sign. And my last backup is from last month. Fortunately, the only things I've really done in the last month are work on the ExRM and my novels, and those are all backed up now (thanks in part to HoH's SVN server). Now it's time to put Acronis to the test, I suppose. Wish me luck. I hope there are still some Black Friday deals on hard drives going...

Oh, and if I rebuild this as a RAID 0 array again, shoot me in the head. Seriously, that was a terrible idea.

Good luck getting it fixed Quinn! Depending on how much stuff you have, and how much spare cash you have, take a look at getting a Solid State hard drive - they've come down a lot in price, are quicker and more reliable than the old magnetic-disk ones. But they are still a bit pricey for the size of them though.

I found a laptop from 1995 with Windows 3.1 in our basement after some serious cleaning. It's still alive and kicking, and considering it's about 50 generations of hardware in the past, it's 150 years old in computer years.

I'm back. And putting TrueImage on every PC I buy from now on. That was awesome, and not too hard.

Thanks! I considered it, but the machine itself is 4.5 years old now, so I just got a WD Green for $50. I figure that's likely to last as long as the rest of the machine is at this point. If this were a new computer, I'd have likely invested in a SSD.
