UNIT UPGRADE/PROMOTION

Is there a way of upgrading standard units to elite unit type?

My aim is to have all my standard units (ones which are recruited in the earlier stages) promoted or upgraded to elite units when elite units are available and after a certain criteria; as an example:

Gondor militiamen with 9 exp. (full chevrons) ==> Army Barracks present (etc) ==> upgraded to Gondor Infantry (with 1pt exp).

The only two methods I can think of where you could 'fake' an upgrade would be as follows:

1: Just give the low tier units the models of the higher tier units as armor upgrades, and perhaps buff their stats slightly

2: Not sure if this is possible, but after the first barracks event, have a regularly firing script that detects gondor militia, etc and asks if you want to spend a certain amount of money to 'retrain' them, deleting the units and replacing them with their professional counterparts.

The SCRIPT option was one thing I thought about myself, the only problem is to find someone who can teach me how to script and script it..LOL

with regards to your 1st suggestion I was looking into the "armour_ug_models" but I guess this just changes the models and not the stats, but never the less is a viable alternative to what I aimed for in my OP.
