36,000 is a nice haul. Successful wars are good money makers. Though unsuccessful wars are what kill you.

i tried this same tactic and captured Constantinople in 4 turns but that didnt destroy the byzs

I guess you gotta trap their family members in Constaninople and then attack the city so you kill their whole royal family at once.
When this happens, it will automatically kill the faction

Yes, that is the key. Actually there are several factions with that weakness at the start of the game.
