Default Medieval 2 has encountered an unspecified error

I recently downloaded the patch 1.1 and ran the unpacker. Now the game crashes with an error message that says Medieval 2 has encountered an unspecified error. I looked around in the fourums for a way to fix this and I found that I have to delete "descr_geography" and another file. I can't find either of these files anywhere. Unpacker didn't put anything in the data folder.

The 1.1 patch is for multiplayter, only. Reinstall the original, patch to 1.2, preferably 1.3, then unpack.
The geography files are in the data folder and in hidden in %appdata% if you installed with Vista or 7 and with the UAC enabled.

Unhide all files and folder in Folder Options, then use Search in Computer.

I installed the game with the UAC disabled and in C:\Games so I have no idea where it's buried. You are going to have to search your computer to find it.

The closest I can get id users\username\appdata\roaming\.

Iīve had that too, a few times.
It always happen in a few certain battles, though. The battle starts, and then all of a sudden the "unspecified error" message comes up.
And if I restart the game, I am still unable to fight that battle myself (no other choice but to autoresolve) which is really annoying, because it only happens in occasional battles against Timurids.

At first, it seemed as if it was the Elephants that was the only difference beween when it worked and when it didnīt, but there is no problem if I make a custom battle where they have elephants.

Timurids are bugged because the animations for the cannon elephants are bugged.

But how do you fix it?
Thatīs what I want to know.

Iīm playing a defensive strategy against the Timurids, and need to handle all the fights personally.

In the original game, autoresolve and go on. Some mods have taken the cannon elehants out of the game.

Edit: there is one player that was able to hit them first and fight the battle but gave no real particulars. You may try searching for it in this forum.

So, all in all, the only thing you can do when that happens is autoresolve and leave it be...

Reinstall the game and patch to 1.2 directly, you have a chance. Savegames will no longer be compatible.

Just delete the Sega folder in there. The game will reinstall it.

Do you want a way to get away from the virtual store?
