Please forgive me if this has been asked but can you in the next release please allow fog of war again. For some reason you can no longer change this in the preferences file. Or can you and is there another file I am missing?

Also can you please save your mod in 1280 x 1024 as once again this cannot be changed the preferences file. 1024 x 768 does not do this mod justice! Is anyone else having this problem?

And finally can you please include the original ground files (as a sub folder) for the campaign map, while the new map looks pretty, it is far too bright IMO.

In closing, I am not criticising just merely posing questions....this mod truly is awesome!
    thanks for the comments :original:
1)Fog of war - should be changeable in Preferences look for Preferences.txt in ...Activision\Rome - Total War\bi\preferences
    Code:
    FOG_OF_WAR:FALSE change to TRUE
disabled for testing purposes forgot to enable it again
    2) will test the 1280X1024
    3) I will post a downloadable version of the original ground files

in closing, can I move this to the General Discussion thread?

Thank you for the reply Ramon, if you could enable the Fog of War and the 1280 x 1024 in a new download, I will be a happy little vegemite.

Yes please move to General discussion.

    thanks again.

    ...
I can post a copy of the preferences.txt with FOW and 1280 x 1024 max here, I tried FOW and it works, I couldn't try 1280 x 1024 as my card doesn't support it so when I set it, it reverted back to 800 x 600. I can play at 1024 x 768 x 32 no prob though...

PS be sure to install into your "Activision\Rome - Total War\bi\preferences" folder

EDIT: I also uploaded an installer for CA's and AR's original ground files, download here:

I originally downloaded Attila's work (this included some but not all of the factions reskinned) and then what Gersom had added in what I think was titled "Gameplay Fix 1.1". It seems there has been a fair degree of activity since I was last here. Is there a standard that unites the actions of those interested in building on Attila's work? Is there "a" mod that has replaced those first efforts to heal the errors of BI?

Thank you for the reply sir. Unskilled fellows like myself are dependant on the efforts of others. I have been waiting for things to develop. What is the protocal for this best and the brightest version? Can I download it directly onto what already exists or should I go another way?

Downloading it directly to an unmodded IBFG should work, you should even be able to play your saved games :original:
It comes as an .exe file so no need to install earlier versions. pls remember to install the quickfix

    Thanks, GERMANICUS, for your help

    Hello,

Thank you for the explanation. I downloaded both version 5 and the quick fix. Everything seems to look like it should I suppose. 407 C.E. is a very interesting change: looks grim for the forces of civilization.

    ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
    I uploaded a quickfix for IBFG5
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=42802
the quickfix should include the ff:

-Disabled the recruitment of horde units by Slaves (never meant to be, escaped my attention)
-Changed upper Lugdunum to Lutetia (used to be 2 Lugdunums - this might not show up if u continue with a saved game)
-Changed starting positions of the ff characters:
Constans (RB) I moved him a little higher out of the woods (moving him to diplomats tile will send him back to Britain)
    Amalric (Alemanni)
    Gundahar, Oza (Vandals)
    -Deleted entry for Kuonrad
-gave trait points for "NightBattleCapable" and "Pagan" among RB.
-fixed the core building/settlement level issue (this was already present in AR's map, missed that when doing my fixes)
-fixed the diplomacy error (Romano-British should be Romano_British)
-removed the nose guards from the Roman infantry and Saxon Bows
-Replaced the Roxolani stratmap general (BI_sm_general_Roxolani is being used NOT BI_sm_roman_general_Roxolani)
-Changed the backdrop (when starting game-IBFG name in lower right wasn't a good place)
-changed Sassanid & Burgundii generals for named characters to proper equivalent

Special thanks to Eden (for reporting a lot of the errors) and Hans Kloss (AGAIN! ) for helping me fix the errors.
Of course thanks and a big sorry to those who have reported errors that I haven't been able to fix yet.
please keep the bug reports coming, they do give me a headache, but they're one of the ways we could make this mod better .

Does this mod include a complete set of re-done sprites?

I was working on the sprites before all the bugs were reported, I wanted to include in the update but needed to do a quickfix and didn't want to add to the another potential source of problems. I am now working on a more comprehensive unit reskin (hopefully more historical ) so will do the sprites AND the unit cards after redoing the units. Please bear with the delay but will take some time, I am remodelling a lot :sweatingb I've now done some models for visigoths, ostrogoths (different from visigoths), slavs (very different from vandals), sarmatians, alans, huns (am remodelling some of Dick and Alexcruel's models). I haven't posted any previews 'coz I haven't done the textures yet

As you are working on the units, could you add in some light javelin cavalry for the Romans, please.

ATM the Equites-Mauri are the only light javelin cavalry available. Equites-Illyricani would be nice, they would look the same as the saggitarii, only with javelins instead of bows. The name 'Illyricani' doesn't mean that they are from Illyricum, the province, it denotes the type of soldier, so they should be available everywhere.
The Equites-Scutarii are supposed light cavalry too, BTW, they just carried much larger shields than the others and were thus able to fight at close quarters, if necessary.

One more thing.. The Equites-Promoti were heavy cavalry, promoted from the old legionary cavalry into separate units. In the game the name Promoti for normal (auxilia) cavalry is wrong.

first of all congrats on this great mod!
the only thing i don't like are the unit cards of som factions like the roman ones
they all look a bit samey and thus are hard to recognise

how do u suggest to remedy this? personally I think they're better than CA unit cards, but if u have something better I'd want to see it before making unit cards for the new units

I think they are better than CA...

Have u been thinking to add churches to Romano-British settlements? In descriptiones says they are christians for almost a 100 years.I changed it myself..it's acually was very easy. But it can be slight problem when most generals are pagan.

Also..one thing i dont like..evryone has exelent moral..before it was just elite units and minor crazy ones, like naked fanatics.

Yeah we still need to convert all the WRE into a Christian dominated population now that were far from Julian's death. Infact they should have been in the majority in vanilla BI but CA blundered agian and made almost the whole empire Pagan.

been planning to do this, too. Also been planning on reducing the settlements of barbarians to less than cities

Yes, to change a charachters religion is very easy. Just change it in descr_strat.
