Default Time between turns = Slow?

I don't know if it's only me, but I feel that the time between turns take an awful amount of time in SS. Even with not to see other factions' actions, I can still take a dump, make myself a sandwich and do my girlfriend, and when I come back it's still not done. Is there anything to do to reduce the time it takes inbetween, or is there no way whatsoever to minimize the time? I guess it's like that so the AI takes extra time to ''think'', but I think it's a tad too long.

Yes, there are tons of threads about this.

Search the forums for "turn times" or "slow" and you'll find several ways to make it a bit faster. The easiest and fastest is to turn of BGR, but you can also turn off longer assimilation, use FTT (Faster Turn Times), and a couple others.

FTT is redundant. All code it disables is removed in the Fixes.
The Fixes speed up turn times quite a bit. Roughly 50% according to my tests, leading to a 1/3 decrease in time taken.
As you say, BGR slows down the turns quite a bit. So does longer assimilation, but to nowhere near the same extent. Limited Activities also slow down turn times some.

What version are you using? The latest SS6.3 (patched of course) goes by significantly faster then previous version.

Also please note that SS goes by slower then other mods due to the massive amount of content, it does have more data then most mods do.

    Yes, it's the newest version.

@ all the others, will stalk a bit and try my way around, but I have no idea what the term BGR means. SS is the first mod I've ever used so I guess I have a bit catching up to do.

BGR is Byg's Grim Reality (Heaven forbid I forgot how to spell his name right, I hope that was correct). DO NOT accept this option for your games until you are an expert at SS. It greatly increases difficulty (Understatement of the year, as SS is already harder then Vanilla)

I'm definately not an expert. Maybe I'll try this is I ever become one. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks, I can definately see the difference in turn times.

Any other noob-friendly ways to decrease time between turns?

    Defragment your hard drive.
You can do this using a tool like Defraggler.
Doing so should speed up pretty much everything on your computer.

Quick question: How do you change for example late to early game era. Currently having it at late, but going to try early now.

Try moving SS out of Program Files. It's likely the Virtual Store feature of Vista and W7 causing it.
